This was regarded as an ultimate sacrifice, as they had tried sacrificing several other animals before then. well.. everyone got their happy endings and only the extras (and some badies) died, thats (partly) what made those last seasons so bad in a GoT sense.. hopefully the last season will be exactly like GoT.. making no sense at all but everyone being alive and happy

This is a very good video. I wish more people used critical thinking like this, but I do think that a feeling of control is directly linked to happiness, and so admitting that things are complicated and nuanced and out of your control is, while closer to reality, depressing.

I want to point out that a big part of ancient Chinese mythology was also a Great Flood, but the cause usually was not said to be supernatural. And the mythical Emperor Yu built dams to stop the floods, founding the Xia dynasty. This mythos is seen as a testament to civilization conquering and regulating nature.

That was very interesting and insightful. I’m a student of Comparative Mythology so anything involving myth and analysis of collective human psyche hugely fascinates me. Yeah, if you can make real life events into lore like narrative, I’d love more contents of this nature.

This is the pivot I knew was always around the corner and the one I've patiently been waiting for - taking parallels within real world lore and dissecting over tropes and ideas presented over history, can't wait to see what topics you tackle next

For future reference, Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo is most commonly known as/referred to by his title, Marquês de Pombal (Marquis de Pombal). This is so good. We keep getting inundated with heroism, partly because of the culture we come from, and partly because it takes responsibility away from us. At a time when we need to make organizations that well and truly function for the benefit of all mankind, we sit here hoping some billionaire, or some other person will come and assist us in beating global warming, or beat social justice issues. The more we shy away from fact based thinking the more we lose our way and waddle around as we hit extinction level events day after day and year after year...

This has weighed so heavily on my soul since I was a small child. That humanity can destroy the world. I think you're right; in this next century, we either learn to live with a certain fairness and justice for everyone -- including the Earth -- or we fall into a true Dark Age.

What an amazing video. It’s easy to see how much effort, thought and research you've put into it. I feel bad watching this for free but unfortunately I don’t have the means to support the content right now. I hope one day I can because this type work definitely needs to be shown to everybody. Content not based on fake news, conspiracy theories or something that your grandmother told you, but based on facts, research and analysis.

When the original viking settlers of Iceland debated if they should take up Christianity a volcanic eruption brought streams of lava that threatened one of the Christian settlers, and the heathen majority saw this as a sign that the gods were angry at the Christians. On that occasion one of the wiser leaders asked a surprisingly profound question to the crowd standing in the lava fields of Þingvellir the viking parliament of Iceland: What made the gods angry when the lava flowed over this [holy] place we stand on right now? It is a strikingly simple question but it show a deep scientific understanding, that all lava fields must have been originally made through volcanic eruption, and this process is frequent and random enough for it to be nonsensical to attribute it to a godly will.
