Apocalyptica

Күн бұрын

Live Or Die, which boasts what is certainly one of the most dynamic liaisons in heavy metal - the spellbinding music of Apocalyptica and the potent, iconic vocals of Sabaton’s Joakim Brodén - is a fierce battle cry focused on the desecration of our planet.

Lyrics:
Our souls shivers in the cold and the darkness
Our bodies crumble from the weight laid upon us
We’re just a prey on the hunting grounds
And nothing we can do than to fight it
No man will ever stand to survive it
Ashes ashes we all fall down
But if we wanted the truth
We wouldn’t buy the lies
And follow the fools
And the battle cry
For nothing we’ll lose
And does it matter
Matter if we live or die
Live Or Die
We’re out of reach from each other in the shadows
We lost count of the numbers in the death toll
These are faked and distorted times
Crying out for desperate measures
For a vengeance that will carry on forever
But the king will never pay for his crimes
So if we wanted the truth
We wouldn’t buy the lies
And follow the fools
And the battle cry
For nothing we’ll lose
It doesn’t matter
For masters if we live or die
Live Or Die
Our souls shivers in the cold and the darkness
Our bodies crumble from the weight laid upon us
Nothing we can ever do than to fight it
No man will ever stand to survive it
But if we wanted the truth
We wouldn’t buy the lies
And follow the fools
And the battle cry
For nothing we’ll lose
And does it matter
Matter if we live or die
Live Or Die

Joakim is more than a singer. Its taken me a long time to figure out how to express it, and I'm sure I'm not the first. He's a story teller, like folk singers of a generation ago, or bards of old. Its more than just being able to compose a lyric and sing the words, and make the lyric be in service to the song. No, he makes the song serve the words he is saying. Closer to an accompanied poet, but still makes the meaning cut through without breaking the song. Sure there is the accent, the language, but even still, his is a voice that commands attention, and he doesn't need to show off to do it.

It's like No Lives Matter by Body Count, or God Was Never On Your Side by Motörhead or The Raven by Killing Joke: "Don't follow leaders. No gods, no slaves, no masters. Solidarity must come from within us to truly connect us, not from above, our actions must speak to our true selves and our own understanding and responsibilities for ourselves, our next of kin and others, our awarenes of our environments. Not from someone else's command. We are all together in this thing called life, but each of us has to live their own life and die their own death in the end. The most important battle rages within every one of us, and it is about whether we recognize this or fail to do so." That's what all these songs seem to be about, ultimately.

More or less its mean if we want our paradise we should stop follow the leaders of this world that enslave us. We are the many and they are the few, but they know how to use fear against us. There are no greater weapon than fear, and right now you all are falling for it. If humanity only would stand up and kill every politicans and world leaders and the police that will protect them, this world would be a paradise.People ahve demonstrated for decades, it does nothing. Its time to take action against the few. Drop that fear and do it now. We will all die some day anyway, lets do what is best for our children. All bands more or less sings like this with riddles. They all are putting out how darkness is controlling us, just think about it. Most songs are about the love of the night, moon and darkness if you read the lyrics, and we the people are to brainashed to see the reality. Its right there infront of our eyes. Its time to wake up. The only bands that gets big today are the ones that sings about negativity things. This world is rulled by the evil, and they want us all in fear as they are afraid that we will wake up. And if w do wake up we would take over this planet in days, as we are the many and we are the love. We humans are not suppose to live like we have for the last 3000 years. They just trying to delay it, but its time to wake up and envolve as we should have a thousand year ago, before the dark age. Only thing that is stopping the humanity is fear, nothing else. And you are all filled with it.

@@gustavusadolphus4103 I don’t think that it is that extreme of a message at all. I think it’s just a song about just propaganda and how we can be lead to do terrible things so easily. And it’s up to us to see that when there is hate and misery in the world, we caused it. We bought into what were lies, because we don’t like the truth, stuff like that.

I though Joakim couldn't get any cooler after 'Bismark.' How wrong I was. Joakim is the ultimate metal singer of our times. The metal singer for all people. Gravelly voice suits the metal style, but not too much like the grunt singers, and not too little like pop singers. He has that perfect 'power' voice, that somehow seems to go with smooth things like violins too. He's a gift.

Everyone's so focused on Joakim (who's fucking great, don't get me wrong) that no one's paying attention to the meaning of the song. I love how so many bands are standing up to people destroying the planet (Amaranthe also did a song about this recently) and I hope people take the time to listen to the lyrics and do their part to protect our planet.

To me, it''s like No Lives Matter by Body Count, or God Was Never On Your Side by Motörhead or The Raven by Killing Joke: "Don't follow leaders.

I don't think the song is about war and battles as you know it from Sabaton. I understand the lyrics so that it is about how much society is divided. That society can be controlled and does not rise up against injustice and oppression. Formulated in an exaggerated manner, I see in the text a call for resistance to evil and injustice in this world. And i f***ing love it!

Spot on! To me, it is also more about a mental battle: This song is very much like No Lives Matter by Body Count, or God Was Never On Your Side by Motörhead, or The Raven by Killing Joke. Their common message is: "Don't follow leaders. No gods, no slaves, no masters. Solidarity must come from within us to truly connect us, not from above, our actions must speak to our true selves and our own understanding and responsibilities for ourselves, our next of kin and others, our awarenes of our environments. Not from someone else's command. We are all together in this thing called life, but each of us have to live their own life and die their own death in the end. The most important battle rages within every one of us, and it is about whether we recognize this or fail to do so." That's what all these songs seem to be about, ultimately.

Joakim has a voice that just fits into every metal song ever made. I swear every time he collaborates with other bands it sounds like the songs were written with his voice in mind even though they probably weren't. Doesn't matter if he's Pumping Iron with Grailknights, charging up the Gates of Glory with Twilight Force or getting Called by people with Pain, it just works.
