When I saw this band. I had no idea who they were or what they were. By the time the show ended. I was so overwhelmed by what I had just seen I became somewhat abscessed with them. While beautiful and orchestral, they were so fuckin heavy I was blown away. If you have never seen them. I think you should. They will change the way you look at metal. No matter how into it you are.

Ever since I graduated school over 11 years ago I have always wondered how these guys met. Like, how on earth do you find 5 people with the same interest in metal, 4 amazing cello players and a drummer, with the same ambition? Not just that but the persona each of them have, looking like 3 members from Children of Bodom and a blind guy in a suit(Antero you fucking rock)? You guys are amazing. Your covers are so damned nostalgic to my school years. EDIT: Jesus christ that solo. I think I burst a nut

Charles Johnson Metallica has known Apocalyptica since forever. If I remember correctly, Apocalyptica opened for Metallica on a few shows at Helsinki back in 1995-96. And Metallica invited them to their 30 year aniversary concert, they played One together and James said it sounded beautiful and they should tour together.
@wonkothesane86915 жыл бұрын
@@kcyob: Thanks for the info; I agree with your tour idea, especially if Metallica can put a metal edge to a couple of classical pieces. I believe the fellas in Metallica have more than the necessary skills to do so. It would be risky, creating such a fusion, even more so to market it; but one can't produce true innovation and beauty with taking some risk. And some things in life should be done merely for the joy of doing them, regardless of profit or loss.
@PurchasingPureGold5 жыл бұрын

Holy! First I head of this band was in a reference on the comment boards in NY Times article on Metallica's new album. I've only really liked Metallica for their live performance with San Francisco Symphony so, for me, they've been mostly in my rearview mirror , "on a freight train running toward a light at the end of a tunnel." But Apocalyptica has, for me, made something old new again. I'm truly surprised that, as an old man, I'm capable of being surprised. Astounding, Truly astonishing. Well done.
