Prior to the turn of the century this song was at its peak for covers with a bunch of various iterations, middle eastern composition with Led Zeppelin, harp versions, Ofra Haza, but over the past 20 years since, the interest has waned. And because I know all of those covers. I feel this is the weakest attempt. The orchestra carries this version, where the soloist should dynamic focal point of the performance. So it’s a meh for me.

My favorite Led Zeppelin song. Love it when an orchestra takes on songs like this. The best version is Led Zeppelin performing this song with an Egyptian orchestra. Lucia Micarelli rocked this song with an orchestra.

If you want to hear the power of orchestral strings you might try the Gloucester Cathedral recording of Vaughn Williams Variation on a Theme of Thomas Tallis, it's on KZbin. Alternatively, the best Kashmir I've ever heard is the live Celebration Day version by Led Zeppelin
