For some context regarding the quote at the beginning: "W. Durant" = Will Durant (1885-1981), who, along with his wife, Ariel (1898-1980) wrote a much beloved and once-famous 11 volume set of books named _The Story of Civilization,_ written over a period of 40 years (1935-1975). The Durants were once a nearly household name among American middle-class families, and _THOC_ would often sit on shelves alongside _The Bible_ and _The Encyclopedia Brittanica_ in many homes. Our family didn't own a copy, but I remember seeing another book with Will Durant as author. Wish I knew what happened to it! Thank you! I enjoyed your reaction and have subscribed!
