The guys from Apollo Scooters in Canada shipped out their new Apollo Explore which will reach the market in 2020. Now its time to test and review it. In this raw footage GoPro Hero 8 POV video, I take it for a spin on a bright day in Aarhus, Denmark.
The Apollo Explore is a high-end e-scooter capable of reaching a top speed of 50 km/h (31 MPH) and its 52V 18.2Ah Li-ion battery gives it up to 60 km (37 miles) of range in a single charge.
At 22 kg (49 lbs) the Apollo Explore isn't too heavy considering the power it is packing.
Recorded using the GoPro Hero 8 Black (Buy here: geni.us/GoProHero8Cam) in 4K at 60 FPS.
A full review is coming soon!

Love your video. I own an Apollo Explore and find it to be a perfect scooter for me. I have honeycomb tires (no flats) and find the ride extremely smooth and a silent ride. I only ride in mode 2 as that speed (40km/hr) is more than fast enough for me. Mode 3 has a max speed of 50km/hr. Range is 40+ kms on a full charge. Extremely powerful. On very steep inclines, in mode 2 \ 50% power, I am travelling at 25kms/hr up the hill. Platform is nice and wide so very comfortable. Lots of lights (front, back, underbelly, stem). Dual disc brakes. A single 1000 watt motor. I have over 900 kms within 6 months of use. Now that I am in the middle of winter and unable to enjoy my escooter, I watch these types of videos to relive my experiences. For me, riding is a piece of Zen. The best days is when the pathways are empty, the sun is high, and I am travelling through a forest or other natural areas. Nothing beats a scooter ride... well, almost nothing.

I've had my Explore for 2 weeks now. Quite a bit of play in the stem and it kind of lunges when braking or accelerating on mine, feels very unsafe at higher speeds. Also very loud noise that reverberates through the board on mine when going over larger bumps. Yours is much smoother riding and quieter for sure. Even with the stem wobble and loud noises coming from my board, this scooter is crazy fun. I can't wait until mine is aligned correctly and I can get the most out of it! I've been in contact with CS at fluidfreeride and they insist on a video of the problem before they will help me troubleshoot. I think the front spring is misaligned (or something of that nature) but, they won't help me troubleshoot without a video. I'm understanding of issues that could arise in shipping and am not upset that the scooter may need some adjustment, that is to be expected. What I don't understand is why they won't help me based on my description of the issues? Very frustrating but, I'm not letting that steal my joy ;)

Hi Jason! I've actually clocked a top speed of 52 km/h on even ground and I'm 5'11", 165 lbs. Got a full review coming with some more info on this next week. As far as suspension goes, it feel great. This isn't an off-road behemoth but rather the perfect blend that'll allow you to take a trail or hill every now and then with no trouble at all. Since I only had the scooter for testing several months back, I actually don't recall. But either way, they're super adjustable so you can have them high or low depending on your preference. There's a little screw you can loosen and then you can adjust it to your liking before tightening it again. I even think you could easily swap the left for the right if that's what you wanted. Hope that helps.

I'm located in Denmark and it's extremely flat almost everywhere. That said, I do live right next to a 2-mile 15% incline that I'll try and test it on once the battery is a little drained. But generally I've experienced very little of this. Haven't run it to a complete dry battery yet.

It's either the Explorer or the City for me. I just can't decide which one will suit me better.
@eRideHero
@eRideHero 2 жыл бұрын
Both are extremely viable choices and I'm sure you'll enjoy either - but I'd say it comes down to how much you value portability and if the extra $250 of the Explore makes a large difference to you. The Explore has about 40% more battery capacity and has notably more motor power, but the City is still a very capable scooter in the city for inclines etcetera. On the flipside, the Explore weighs just shy of 30% more though they both fold down relatively well. If you value added performance over the increase in size and weight, the Explore is gonna take the prize - otherwise the City is an ideal alternative.
@andrewszeto121

I just purchased the Explore today. From your video, it sounds like you have a creaking noise at low speed that appears every now and then. Is that normal?
@eRideHero
@eRideHero 3 жыл бұрын
Awesome - congrats on the purchase. Should be said that this was just a demo model I had for about 3 months (don't have it anymore) for testing purposes, so it already had plenty of usage. If I remember correctly, that sound was either the rear suspension or brake that just needed a quick adjustment. It's normal in the sense that any e-scooter requires some maintenance once in a while but I don't think it's something you'll have out of the box as Apollo test for that kinda stuff before shipping out their scooters (they run through a checklist on every scooter before shipping). Enjoy your ride once you get it - I already miss mine, haha. Stay safe.

That sounds weird. I definitely imagine there's an issue somewhere as I found it to be a solid hill climber. It, of course, depends on rider weight as well - but the obvious things to look at would be the motor or battery - both components could do that.

Thanks David! No, I've ridden for several hours on the same day and it has never been a problem for me. As long as you get something with decent suspension, it won't be a problem. Both the Explore and Emove Cruiser have shock absorption although I'll say the Explore is the smoothest ride of the two in my opinion. I don't really think we can compare e-scooters and e-bikes (it's probably your b*tt that'll be sore on an e-bike if the seat is bad). Explore wins on ride quality and power while the Cruiser has an edge in terms of range - so which you should pick comes down to what you prefer.

This is just a POV ride video. If you want my opinion about the scooter, I have a full 10-minute review on the channel. Personally I prefer a thumb throttle over twist grip. A thumb throttle can easily be purchased and installed. I am sure with some technical know-how you could work out a twist grip solution as well. I think it comes down to the fact that these are much more lightweight and it could affect balance and weight distribution.
