Apollo learned "plant" way back, then he lost it for months. Recently he started saying "plants outside" and worked back to "plants" from there. He's almost back to saying "plant" proper when asked about plants.

Other species that compare, corvids, and from what im seeing, corvidae may even surpass the greys, when intelligence and problem solving is involved. My understanding with the greys however, is how they communicate, that makes them superior to other birds. I wish i could remember everything i read, but 20 years is a long time ago, and there is way more info NOW than there was then, so lots has probably changed. One thing is for certain, greys are insanely intelligent when it comes to communication, recognition, but ive never seen anyone try to teach them problem solving like ive seen with corvids. Both insanely smart bird species.

yes most times he either bites or knocks the object to try and figure out the material, and sometimes he just knows right away without even touching it, I think it's a combination of just touch and visual association with word and how the object looks.
