Apollo: New Humanoid Robot by Apptronik
► Try Invideo AI out for free: invideo.sjv.io/oqoOXn
Meet Apollo, the humanoid robot designed by Apptronik to take on repetitive and tedious tasks so humans don't have to. Standing 5'8" tall and weighing 160 lbs, Apollo looks like something out of a sci-fi movie but it's very real. With two arms, advanced vision and mobility, Apollo can unload trucks, pick cases in warehouses, and perform other dull, physically demanding jobs.
Apptronik designed Apollo specifically for collaboration with human workers. It has a friendly appearance and is built to operate safely around people. Apollo represents a huge milestone in creating affordable, capable
humanoid robots.
Apptronik aims to make Apollo an adaptable platform that other companies can build custom applications on top of. The potential for beneficial coexistence between humans and intelligent robots like Apollo is enormous.

As more investment flows into humanoid robotics, we inch closer to a future where tireless robots can take over unwanted tasks, keep humans out of harm's way, provide educational benefits, elderly care, and more. Apollo delivers on the long-held promise of functional human-shaped robots that can help humanity.

It was demonstrated years ago, that even mechanically crude robots could do useful work, when controlled by a human. The key problem is intelligence. The current appearance of many humanoid robot projects seems to be the result of advances in AI. Both perception and language understanding have improved dramatically in the last few years, and we may be on the threshold of making these machines practical.

Do we really need jobs? I don't have one and it's amazing! A job is not one of our needs. Utopia requires us to think outside of our dull, repetitive boxes.

Right now they’re slow and can’t flow like a physically fit human. Still they have come a long way and if this technology follows the same improvement rate as technology in the 20th century, then by 2050 we should have factories full of these things.

Atlas is old technology now. I was as wowed as you were but hydraulics are not practical for humanoid robots in many circumstances. Depending on what you get it to do it would need a battery swap every half an hour. If for some obscure reason you want it to do parkour it will need a battery swap every five minutes. Don't ask the price either, if you have to ask you can't afford it, ever.

Yeah, but why is it named after the angel of the bottomless abyss the great destroyer? Like seriously, There are countless other names that could have been used??? What the hell (pun intended) 😉

Nobodys going to "hire" such a slow employee :) ....for 4 hours of runtime. In the warehouse or factory you gotta be quck. Also, a driver is not going to wait hours for this robot to unload its truck or van.

no worries, they'll fire the drivers and replace them with robots as soon as they can

They’re slow and impractical now but look at every other technology. Computers were once slow big and noisy, now they fit in your pocket and respond instantaneously. Fighter aircraft were once wooden biplanes that were slow and could barely maneuver, now they’re made of advanced composite materials, use jet engines and launch missiles. Eventually robots will be able to beat Olympic athletes.

All I see is more closed job opportunities for people looking for work and a win for big corporations who will save money by no longer needing hirees to do the work for them. So you'll end up having more homeless because AI is continuing to take over peoples' jobs. Unless you're rich or have a job where AI could never do the work for you, the future will be very bleak indeed.

All I see is another Luddite looking to stop the relentless power of technology from solving all of our problems, whilst creating almost infinite wealth. Wealth distribution is politics not Science. Vote wisely.
