The nice thing about having more speed than you need is that batteries sag as they deplete, so your 43mph top speed at 100% battery might turn into 35mph at 40% battery. Having a higher top speed allows you to maintain your desired speed even with sag. Personally, with my Ghost I tend to rid at 25-35mph most of the time. I definitely notice the sag when my batteries start getting low, and I'm only able to do like 24mph since the Ghost has a lower top speed than the Phantom.

you do get some on the phantom but its not that bad to be honest.

I bought a pair of V2s that I later upgraded to V3. It's a great machine, but I did get a flat, and also the kick stand block tore a deep gash in my ankle. These things are heavy, but great fun to ride. I also added front signal lights on the handle bars, and changed the wiring to make the lower front deck lights flash when braking. Controller could be better: there's no firmware update. Nicely built, though, and Regen brake is awesome. Bigger wheels might be better, but cost more.

Nice video. I agree with you that the Phantom is looking a little long in the tooth compared to Apollo's other scooters, but it is still light years ahead of some other premium scooters when it comes to drivability, in my opinion. I have only owned it for a day but I am loving it so far. I actually "downgraded" from a Teverun Blade GT to a Phantom and I don't regret it. Nothing against the Teverun; it was a great scooter, but sometimes it felt like I was clinging to a missile it was so jumpy on the throttle. I was messing around in the app and I wonder what settings you have found to be best for you for the acceleration and regen braking settings? I dialled the braking down to 4 and I still feel it's a little too grabby. I am still new with them though and my muscle memory keeps reaching for the regular disc brake levers more often than not.

I believe the braking setting only applies to the handles? I could be wrong, I'll have to test it out next time I'm out for a good long ride. You'll get used to how the regen throttle feels and it'll be second nature. I tried a Blade GT2 and I agree, in terms of drivability it's not even close. Though I do like the bigger battery on the blade.

Imagine a scooter that you could upgrade for about 10 bucks out of pocket for spacers ,and have a 30mm wider 105mph wheel ? How cool would that be?

Yo! i don't know if you can help me but, i got something to ask you if you mind :) I pre-ordered my phantom 2023 in august, it's been 2 month that i wait for it, and i'm kinda tired of waiting. I saw on their website that the city is available now for shipping, i wondered if that was that was something i could do to cancel my phantom and buy the city instead, i think i would've done it if i paid full my for the phantom, but i basically paid 100$ more to get the phantom instead of city, what is your thought about it, would you do it? I know there's pros in both scooter but just the fact that i got it almost for the same price as the city makes me hesitate a lot ^^

Yeah the waiting is tough! I know someone who ordered a City Pro last week and it's scheduled to arrive just a few days from now. I think if your order has not been fulfilled, Apollo can give you a full refund for it. I probably ordered mine during the same sale as you did, when it was marked way down. I really love the Phantom, but honestly I think I would be just as happy with the City Pro. Let me know what you decide to do!

@@ScootWithMike Well, apollo just confirmed me that it was going to ship this week, so i'm gonna keep it haha But it crossed my mind few times cause they're both good in their ways and if i had to wait an other month i would have change probably. Thanks for the respond! i appreciate it, i'm so happy now that i know it's gonna be shipped this week haha :) Be safe!

Well they’re not bad, but they are way wider than usual scooter handlebars, which makes it a lot harder to ride on the sidewalk, I speak from experience. And it didn’t have like a key to start which I would have liked. Now I have an Apollo ghost instead, love it a lot.

So here are my impressions having tried out several scooters now, and also as a member of a group of about 40 guys who scoot. The good: 1: The Mach 1 controller is indeed top-tier, even when compared to much more expensive scooters. It offers instant but smooth and predictable acceleration. Not fastest, but definitely most intuitive. For those who don't know, many scooters have tons of dead zone on the throttle, touchy throttles that offer poor speed control, and throttles that feel like they don't respond right away to your changes in input. Many much more expensive options combine all these bad traits. The Phantom truly matches and often exceeds even the most high end scoots in this regard. For me, the advantages of this excellent control cannot be understated. Others care much less. 2: The regen throttle is massively cool and the phantom is (I think) still the only scooter that offers this (other than other Apollo scoots). I use the regen brake almost exclusively and have never had to replace pads in my 6000 km of use. 3. Most scooters are going to require maintenance and the Phantom is a very easy and modular design to work with. Just about everything can be easily removed and replaced. This is an area the newer Apollo scooters actually took a step backwards in my opinion. 4: The phantom doesn't have the best lighting on the market, but it has a decent headlight, good brake light, and turn signals on front and back. This puts it above average in this regard. The neutral: 2: Power is adequate, not excellent. I think for most people, including myself, the power on offer is going to be plenty. It easily gets me up to speeds I don't really feel the need to exceed (65 - 68 kph). For those people who want the fastest ride, there are many options in this price range that will offer much better acceleration and top speed. 3: Suspension is fine but not great. Much was made of the quad spring suspension when this scooter originally came out. It's all silly hype. Having 2 springs per wheel is actually, _technically_, worse. Take it from an engineer. It also makes it difficult to adjust the springs evenly on both sides of the wheel. I personally use a caliper to ensure I have both sides adjusted the same. Once the springs are adjusted to your liking, the ride is just fine. Plenty of other sprung scooters feel about the same or better, and for just a little bit more money, many scooters are now using hydraulic shocks which provide a night and day improvement in ride dynamics and quality. If ride quality is your utmost concern, find a scoot with hydraulic suspension. 4: Tubed tires are fine. People rag on them and complain of flats. I haven't had any issues, and neither has anyone I know. Keep them inflated to 50 psi. People scooting with low tire pressure is the #1 reason for flats and it's super easy to avoid. Do some research and buy decent tubes, that's the #2 reason. I haven't found tubeless tires are much better in this department either, still being susceptible to road hazards. It's easy to repair or replace a tube. So are tubeless better? Maybe a little, yes. But it's not really a big deal. Now if you're really worried about flats, the self healing tires are definitely what you want. But those I think will give you the worst balance (and are pricey to replace when they wear out). The not so good: 1: The battery is on the small end in 2024 for a scooter at this cost. For a similar price, other brands are offering on average probably 15% to 25% more battery capacity. The phantom still has an adequate battery and it'll get most people where they need to go and back home. But for people wanting as much range as possible, many other brands will offer much better bang for the buck. This is IMO the main place the phantom could improve to better compete with its peers. I debated putting this in the neutral category, and I've found most people massively overestimate the range they require to get where they want to go. But I put it in the bad category because the phantom really performs below it's peers in this category in the current year. 2: You might have heard of the stem bolt issue. Indeed this was an issue on older phantoms, but it's been mostly rectified. The new versions come with a stronger bolt. As long as you check this bolt every thousand KM's or so to make sure it's nice and tight, you'll have no issues. Still it's something extra to have to check. (I heard that on the current models this issue has been entirely fixed and requires 0 maintenance ever, but I have not confirmed this myself). 3: There are headset bearings used in the stem of the scooter to aid in steering (as is the case with most scooters). In the phantoms case (at least in my experience) these tend not to last a very long time and need to be replaced as they're damaged. Luckily the bearings are cheap and the replacement is easy. I've had to perform the replacement twice in my 6000 km's. There it is for anyone interested!
