I like Apollo because he's not a typical magician that relies on orchestrated tricks that anyone can really do. his art comes from his ability to perceive and deceive people, which is not a trick.

Really glad I'm not the only one thinking he's so attractive! Was I the only one disappointed when I discovered he only appears in one season of brain games? He was the best of the show!

All magic I guess can be seen as a form of persuasion because you're getting people to go along with your premise. It's a little bit thin though

That was just a basic example. Take the classic "It's my way, or the high way". Or as ex American president Bush said, "Either you are with me, or against me". In this case he was talking about the Iraq war. So, do you support the freedom fighter or the terrorist? He presents you two options, and it is clearly in your favor to support him. This is where most people fail to see the other choices they have. You could be neutral, simply don't care. You could favor diplomatics over war. Or make a business and earn money on the way, and not really care about the fight / send the money to help the war victims. You could also choose not to answer at all. By offering you two choices, you focus so intensly on them, you forget all the 300 other options you have. You can also color the choices, making one look way better than the other, or even better, serve two choices which both are in your favor. No matter what people choose, you win.

Apollo persuaded her that she got lucky in choosing the chess piece every time by not telling her right away that he had two. It didn't occur to the girl to ask about a second piece. She saw one and assumed that it was the only one, which is why the trick worked to persuade her that she got lucky.
