I love the diversity of humanity in Apollo's Fire Orchestra; it looks young, stylish, and current even when playing on period instruments. What a gift we have in America in this ensemble.

Noah is truly such a phenomenal violinist-- he always plays with a very sophisticated and thoughtful style and phrasing. Truly great concertmaster, too-- first of the Pittsburgh Symphony and last few years of the grandaddy of them all, the Berlin Philharmonic.

Amazing performance, thank YOU! As a passionate lover of Beethoven's music, Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 61 is one of my favourite. I listened to this concerto so many times over the years both live and at home, but this is definitely one of the best performances I ever heard. Played with fire, passion and LOVE this performance fully reflects and gives back the most authentic spirit of Beethoven. @redbrian3655 I couldn't agree more with you! :)

its great that they are doing a historically informed performance. However, it is probably tuned down a quarter tone and because of how long I've been playing violin, I can't listen without getting a headache even though the notes are in tune relative to each other. I am able to listen to historically informed baroque music because it's tuned down a semi-tone so they are still existing notes in modern day notation.

They're playing at A=430ish which is correct for Beethoven's era.

I like the sound very much. However, I I'm not surprised that no one is watching the conductor (have you noticed?). She wouldn't need to be there. A bit weird conducting, she seems to be somewhere else. But all the more I appreciate the team of orchestra, well coordinated.

most of the work of tne conductor is done in rehearsal. The camera isn' t on eyes but I can see quick checks esp on entrances

The conductor is perfect. Everyone in the orchestra gets her clues and they respond immediately, you can see that. I played youth orchestra for a few years and what she is doing is fantastic. Sometimes just a glance or a small expression is enough. She and the orchestra are bonded pretty closely though, this isn't true for every conductor/orchestra relationship. If you want to see weird conducting though, watch Emmanuelle Haim. ;)

Beethoven is definitely not her forte. Worse performance I have heard in a long time. Maybe they are tuned incorrectly as mentioned below.
