That is the attitude of most LDS too, that we do good works because that is the kind of people we become through Christ. But it's not one or the other. It is both. You need to do what is right for the right reasons.

Yes but he is an elder. This couple will loose all their family connections and etc. This Ben is an elder. Pray they have the strength to walk away. The wife is so scared, she is leaning against her husband's shoulder. She grew up in the church, so she is so indoctrinated. Personal experiences again. It;'s all about the spirit. We do need fresh revelation today, and the Holy Spirit does, but it should never deny or contradict any previous revelation. I am praying for them. It often takes years for people to break free. There is such a good social network they have of belonging. Any apparent contradictions in scripture are cleared up if you study the whole of scripture. Let's keep Ben and Rachelle in prayer and hope that they will contact Jeff again and keep up the dialogue.

Paul Gregersen The problem with the 'church in Salt Lake' is that it follows the teachings of Joseph Smith instead of the teachings of Jesus Christ.. The Apostle Paul clearly warned Christians to reject anyone that preaches any other gospel because false teachers would lead many astray. When i read the teachings of Joseph Smith and compare them to the Bible i see completely opposite messages so why should i follow the ideas of Smith?

Have you ever stolen anything? Have you ever used God's name in vein? Have you ever hated someone or ever looked with lust? This is for you to judge yourself, but chances are that you are a lying, thieving, blasphemous, fornicating, adulterer at heart and you HAVE to face God on judgement day. Now ask yourself this. If God judges you on judgement day by these Commandments, will you be innocent or guilty? Of course you'll be guilty because we've all done these things. The truth is that none of us are good people and we NESD God's grace to make it to heaven. We judt simply cannot do it on our own. These Commandments arecalled the Moral Law. You and I broke the law, Jesus payed the fine. So now what we must do to be saved is to repent of our sins and trust alone in Jesus Christ! To repent doesn't mean to just say I'm sorry, but to turn from our sins and let Him truly be our Lord continually. He said that many will say to Him, Lord, Lord I have done all of these things for you. And He will say I never knew you. Depart from Me, ye who work iniquity! And those will be cast into outer darkness and raging hellfire and loneliness for all of eternity!!! Because we broke His law, He is very, very just to send us to hell. If someone had murdered 4 people and said to the judge, I've done nice things too and have tried to treat people nice but it was just one time, the judge would then say, okay but you're going to jail. And the judge is very just to do that. One last thing, if you were 10,000 feet in the air and you had to jump, you wouldn't jump out and flap your arms and try to save yourself. That's ridiculous! You would put on the parachute. It is the same with Jesus. You must trust Him as you trust the parachute. We are not good and we cannot save ourselves with our own goodness. We must trust alone in Him to save us. In just a moment of time you can pass from death to life. Jesus said, "Verily, verily I say unto you, you must be born again." That is how we enter heaven. Through the blood and grace of Jesus Christ!!!!✝️If you ask someone how to enter Heaven, they will most likely say, "Be a good person." Well the Bible says that none is good, no not one. We like to compare ourselves to guys like Hitler and say, "Hey, I'm a pretty good guy compared to him." But when we compare ourselves to God's standard, we realize that the Bible speaks truth when it says that we all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God!!! When we see this ( our sin in its TRUE light), we see how much trouble we are in and we say, "Well then there's nothing I can do. I'm going to hell for sure then." It's true that there is nothing that WE can do, but there is something that has already been done for you! God sent His One and Only Son to die on a cross as a sacrifice for our sins! So to recieve that eternal sweet sweet forgiveness, all we must do is repent of our sins (meaning to continually turn from them and confess them) and trust alone in Christ as you trust a parachute. If I was to push you out of an airplane, you'd want the parachute for sure! Don't try to flap your arms and save yourself, trust in the parachute!! His finished work on the Cross IS ENOUGH!! He is the only way to Heaven, He said it Himself!! These other religions teach that we must he good and do good things and then maybe if we've been good enough, we will enter Heaven. But if that is true then we are all doomed to eternal hell because none of us are good. That's why this makes sense. Look at the Ten Commandments, they are written on your heart right now!! I promise that you have violated them. And you might still be doing that today.. Therefore God is just to poor out His wrath on us because we deserve it! But Christ died for us so that we can spend eternity in Heaven with Him!! Turn to Him today, and He and only He will save your soul!! "Verily, verily I say unto you, you must be born again ( to go to Heaven)."✝️

The reason the Bible seems to contradict is found in 2 Peter 3:14-17. None of the law or prophets passes until heaven and earth do. Matthew 5. Jesus laid the example that we are to follow..read 1 John 2:3-7 to know how to make sure you know him after being reborn (John 3:3)...we aren't once saved always saved. This is why it says endure until the end to be saved and strive to enter the narrow gate that few find because many will try to enter and will not be able.

The Jesus you follow believes that you can be a God one day and that Jesus's death isn't sufficient because it's based on your works. See the real Jesus says that's it's by grace and faith alone in Jesus that we are saved. We don't have to work our way into heaven. Let me ask you a question, what proof do you need? What is proof to you? Because God's word tops Joseph Smith. There is so much proof that Joseph Smith is a false prophet. One example is that he claimed to see Jesus, Moses, Elias, and Elijah. The funny part about that though is that Elias and Elijah are one person they aren't two different people... You'd think Joseph Smith would know that though right?

It is so sad to see such long and convoluted reasonings trying to sell another gospel. Joseph Smith wasn't the first and won't be the last man to try to add and take away from scripture. Revelation 22 ends the way it does because Christ knew many would try to co-opt scripture for their own gain. "until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming." You quote John 1:30 The true nature of God in the Bible: John the Baptist referred to Christ as a man: “This is he of whom I said, After me cometh A MAN which is preferred before me: for he was before me” (John 1:30). Please note the very end "for He was BEFORE me". John the Baptist and Jesus were familial relatives, please read Luke where Mary visits Elizabeth. John was born roughly 6 months before Jesus, so how can 'A Man' as you put be born after John, yet John clearly states He (Jesus) was BEFORE him (John)?

Hey everyone! I just wanted to share some good news with you all. Let's just put it this way, the Ten Commandments are called the Moral Law. Ask yourself this. How many lies have you told? Have you ever stolen anything? Have you ever used God's name in vein? Have you ever hated someone or ever looked with lust? This is for you to judge yourself, but chances are that you are a lying, thieving, blasphemous, fornicating, adulterer at heart and you HAVE to face God on judgement day. Now ask yourself this. If God judges you on judgement day by these Commandments, will you be innocent or guilty? Of course you'll be guilty because we've all done these things. The truth is that none of us are good people and we NESD God's grace to make it to heaven. We judt simply cannot do it on our own. These Commandments arecalled the Moral Law. You and I broke the law, Jesus payed the fine. So now what we must do to be saved is to repent of our sins and trust alone in Jesus Christ! To repent doesn't mean to just say I'm sorry, but to turn from our sins and let Him truly be our Lord continually. He said that many will say to Him, Lord, Lord I have done all of these things for you. And He will say I never knew you. Depart from Me, ye who work iniquity! And those will be cast into outer darkness and raging hellfire and loneliness for all of eternity!!! Because we broke His law, He is very, very just to send us to hell. If someone had murdered 4 people and said to the judge, I've done nice things too and have tried to treat people nice but it was just one time, the judge would then say, okay but you're going to jail. And the judge is very just to do that. One last thing, if you were 10,000 feet in the air and you had to jump, you wouldn't jump out and flap your arms and try to save yourself. That's ridiculous! You would put on the parachute. It is the same with Jesus. You must trust Him as you trust the parachute. We are not good and we cannot save ourselves with our own goodness. We must trust alone in Him to save us. In just a moment of time you can pass from death to life. Jesus said, "Verily, verily I say unto you, you must be born again." That is how we enter heaven. Through the blood and grace of Jesus Christ!!!!✝️If you ask someone how to enter Heaven, they will most likely say, "Be a good person." Well the Bible says that none is good, no not one. We like to compare ourselves to guys like Hitler and say, "Hey, I'm a pretty good guy compared to him." But when we compare ourselves to God's standard, we realize that the Bible speaks truth when it says that we all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God!!! When we see this ( our sin in its TRUE light), we see how much trouble we are in and we say, "Well then there's nothing I can do. I'm going to hell for sure then." It's true that there is nothing that WE can do, but there is something that has already been done for you! God sent His One and Only Son to die on a cross as a sacrifice for our sins! So to recieve that eternal sweet sweet forgiveness, all we must do is repent of our sins (meaning to continually turn from them and confess them) and trust alone in Christ as you trust a parachute. If I was to push you out of an airplane, you'd want the parachute for sure! Don't try to flap your arms and save yourself, trust in the parachute!! His finished work on the Cross IS ENOUGH!! He is the only way to Heaven, He said it Himself!! These other religions teach that we must he good and do good things and then maybe if we've been good enough, we will enter Heaven. But if that is true then we are all doomed to eternal hell because none of us are good. That's why this makes sense. Look at the Ten Commandments, they are written on your heart right now!! I promise that you have violated them. And you might still be doing that today.. Therefore God is just to poor out His wrath on us because we deserve it! But Christ died for us so that we can spend eternity in Heaven with Him!! Turn to Him today, and He and only He will save your soul!! I feel a lot of sympathy for those born into the religion. For them to become Christians, they have to risk losing friends, family, their whole community. Their whole lives are so tied up in the church. Becoming a Christian is a huge deal all by itself, it causes a lot of upheaval in everyone's lives as we turn from sin and put Jesus as the lord of our lives. To add drama on top of that is extremely difficult, it might break your parents' hearts, no one wants to do that. I don't think the shunning is as bad as it used to be, since so many have left in recent years, it would destroy too many families, but it's still a big deal, and is a big reason many of them end up staying even after they no longer really believe, it's just easier. I've noticed when he talks to couples, the women seem to be especially fast to try to shut him down, whereas the guys seem more willing to talk and listen to him. LDS women have more to lose, they are dependent on their husbands to call them from the grave on Judgment Day, their hubbies are the priesthood holders, etc. A man who stays in with a wife who leaves is in a much better position in the church than vice versa. Many LDS wives have been counselled to divorce their non believing husbands and remarry another LDS man, it's that big of a deal. I can see why they'd be so scared of him leaving if they wanted to stay. It's just sad all around, it's a religion of works and bondage, and there is such freedom in Jesus. Most of them are nice people, and it's awful they have to live like that, feeling like they are constantly failing at "doing all that they can do" or feeling judged by others, or like they never measure up to their own impossible standards. I pray this couple can find the truth and have the courage to leave, it will be hard but, of course, worth it.

Wow, and what a gamble it is. I felt the same once. I was an initiated member of a Vaisnava Hindu Temple, had a massive library of books written by temple Gurus mostly translations of ancient hindu texts with their own commentary. I had invested a decade or so into hours daily of study, prayer, and deity worship in the temple and my own home alter. Many things happened in my life that started to prove the existence of Yahwah Elohai. I knew I would look like a confused fool, and that I would have to give up the comfortable lie I had built up around myself, but I considered the fact that drove me to religion in the first place: the only certainty in life is death. And my whole life had revolved around preparing for and becoming ok with that. So when I realized I had it wrong, I swallowed my pride, repented, and changed my course. It's been a bit over a year now. I'm 36 years old.

Jesus Christ said, 'I am the way, the truth and the life." John 17:17 Thy Word is Truth. I enjoy a civil discussion, also. But it is hard for me to understand how anyone could worship a god that was once a man. It is logically impossible. Greek mythology of course. But we are long past that time period or so I thought.

Praise the Lord! Thank you so much for your testament of our Christ to these young people! I just prayed that they will accept HIS grace and salvation. I got saved(from Mormonism) around their age.(couple years younger) The Mormon viewpoint is MUCH different from that of the Bible sadly.
