During the LDS General Conference in Salt Lake, many from Apologia Utah were evangelizing just outside the Mormon Temple. This conversation is with Andrew Soncrant from Cultish and a very curious couple about the distinctions between the LDS Organization and Christianity.

I would highly encourage you to do 2 things: get a bible(or bible app if you can't afford one) and read it every day, at least 10 minutes, and also to pray and ask god to guide your heart. I use the KJV so I recommend that translation based on the history, but god watches over his word and if you are seeking Christ with your heart, you will find him.

@@John3.36 scripture says Jesus died for the church, Jesus said to some you are not my sheep,meaning there is zero possibility they ever will be and he told them as such. Scripture says the names are written in the book of life at the foundation of the world, this is before adam and eve. God offers to all, but having foreknowledge of those He knew would reject Him,in His perfect plan He is also able to determine their outcome before the world was made. @coobest6416 ,....I have all the proof in the world, the Bible. If anyone does not understand what I stated it is because they do not understand the Bible, they only understand the apostate churches counterfeit (antichrist) christianity. The Christianity of Jesus has nothing to do with anything called the church. If anyone is going to leave a deception and a false religion they cannot go into anything called the church as it is all 100% apostate from God and from the Bibles Christianity. The Christianity of Jesus is separate (sanctified) from everything called the church. Jesus came to separate (sanctify) his elect from the apostate church (the false prophet) and from the Godless world (the beast).

Hi Denise, It is definitely good to learn new things. Satan did lie in the garden but not in the way that you think. Satan made 3 statements to Eve in the garden. The first statement is in Genesis chapter 3 verse 1 where he asks Eve, “Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” Eve responds that God instructed them that they could eat from every tree in the garden except from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, that if they were to partake of it, they would die. In response, Satan makes two claims: The first is in verse 4 where Satan claims the exact opposite of what God told Eve: “Ye shall not surely die:” Then he says to her in verse 5, “For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” Verse 4 was the lie and verse 5 was the truth. How do we know verse five was the truth? 17 versus later in verse 22, God restates what Satan said in verse five almost verbatim: “And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil:“ You could say say that both things that Satan said in verses four and five were lies, but that would mean that you would have to say that God is also lying in verse 22. So the question you have to ask yourself is, “Why would God want his children to have the same knowledge of good and evil that He has?” The answer is a commandment from Jesus Christ himself in Matthew chapter 5 verse 48…

First, I think this sidewalk meeting was staged. Other than that, Soncrant uses subtlety, leading questions, manipulation, and falsehoods. He’s not sharing Christ; rather he's only trying to disengage Latter-day Saints from their Faith. He's not defending his faith (apologetics), but rather trampling others’. He gets away with it because he’s glib, and his fans thrive on seeing someone bested, on seeing a beatdown. Andrew, if I met you on the sidewalk I would ask, before you start spinning a web, why not make a new standard, a whole new paradigm - one of respect and honest conversation. We Latter-day Saints have seen so much thought rot - the dominant pattern of Evangelicals attacking others’ Faiths using slick slant and subtle deceit. It is long-standing Evangelical spectacle. On the net and in their bookstores, we see landfills of anti-Latter-day Saint wordcraft, the agenda of propaganda. By contrast, visit any Latter-day Saint bookstore or website; you will not see a single anti-Evangelical book or piece of scrap paper, nor videos or websites. Evangelicals routinely use glib ridicule, playground mockery, slung sleaze, dark snark, smooth dishonest exposition, rant with slant, accusations that distort and omit context, half-truths, outright deceit, flat falsehoods, cherrypicked quotes from pioneer Church leaders’ personal opinions, and fragmented quotes and ellipses used to alter intended meanings. They edit to discredit. They don’t want to convert, they want to hurt. They don’t want answers, they want jeer and rapid-fire smear. Evangelical heckle with trademark snark and sarcastic tactic? We suggest glean Ephesians 4:14. You see, misrepresenting someone else’s Faith is not _speaking the truth in love._ And being rude is not being ‘bold,’ it’s just being rude. Andrew, if you have Christ then share Christ, not slander. In the eyes of God, lying about sacred things is quite serious. Propagandist brother Walter Martin and others have tried to justify trashing other faiths by using New Testament verses that mention “contend for the faith.” But reread those narratives; they don’t advocate assaulting others’ beliefs, but rather to contend *_for_* one’s Faith. Evangelical assassin, efforts at justifying ramrod deceit by proof-texting it in holy writ only makes hypocrisy more abhorrent. Misunderstanding Latter-day Saints is excusable; deliberately misrepresenting them is not. Best to you anyway, jihadist with fourth-century view from the pew, of non-apostolic creed from Nicene scene, of grace-only Lutherspeak. Instead of a beatdown, share Christ if you have Christ. You will never win anyone over by twisting their cherished beliefs, using dishonest verbal gymnastics, mangling their history and teachings, and using deceptive spins.

@@usernametaken6659 My gosh Taken, there’s no reason to spit spite. I think for centuries people have ‘used scripture,’ and the chaos of churches, doctrines, and contention has been an outcome. There is the inevitability of interpretation, which means people will see the same Bible verses differently. For Evangelicals to insist they are the sole fold offering final Bible interpretation in the Protestant world is, I think, a red flag. I was raised in the Lutheran church, and memorized the creeds that came from Constantine’s Nicene councils, where men with no apostolic authority to invent doctrine came together to vote on a belief system. While studying for a university degree in Religious Studies, I kept meeting Latter-day Saints, and I liked their demeanor. Mainly, they were truly kind and were not contentious. So I did my own looking. I went to my sister’s Christian bookstore, and was amazed at the amount of “anti-Mormon” books there. Without exception, each was a hatchet job, like the spew of Andrew and Jeff. So I went to the source-the Latter-day Saints themselves, and within weeks I was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. That was 1976, and I’ve studied my Faith’s history and teachings in depth ever since. Cheers, best to you.
@usernametaken6659

@@Glen.Danielsen there was no spite, you made a serious claim and then couldn't back it. What I claim is that God's children, those who are born again and have His Spirit indwelling them who diligently study His word are also given understanding. I dont believe one has understanding simply because they happen to be apart of a particular denomination. God's word is our guide and we are to use it to test all things. Mormonism fails greatly as proven by the scriptures given in the video. They were not cherry picked but remained in their context and they wholly come against mormon doctrine. Joseph smith is a proven false prophet which means he never spoke for God, never had new revelations and was in fact, decieved by one appearing as an angel of light, sound familiar?

@@beverlyhill6783 Joseph Smith and every LDS prophet since him have preached a gospel of “do,” negating the gospel of “done” that Jesus preached and was. The LDS church is all about what it and its members must still do and be if they want to live with God (and be a god) one day. The true church is all about proclaiming what Christ has DONE to make us right with God now for all eternity. It’s a certainty. Jesus Christ canceled the record of debt that was held against us. All you need to do is accept Christ by faith. It isn't because of who you are and what you must and can do for God. It is because of who God is and what He did for you in sending Jesus to be the sacrificial offering for your sins. To be your substitute on the cross and to satisfy the demands of God's law that stands against you. Christ has done the one work that was necessary to reconcile you to God. Christ has done the one act of righteousness that could bring justification and life to all men. All Christ is asking with open arms is for you to lay down your religiosity and works at the foot of the cross and allow Christ to take it. Salvation is quite simple. Luke 18 And He also told this parable to some people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and viewed others with contempt: 10 “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself: ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.’ 13 But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, the sinner!’ 14 I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

The truth of Gods word is only arrived at by Jesus making one of his chosen ones spiritually alive and giving them the Holy Spirit to guide and teach them the truths of the Bible. Those few Jesus has made spiritually alive have nothing to do with anything called the church that is all 100% apostate. Actual Christianity is outside of everything called the church. All churches and church religions/denominations are all under the umbrella/authority of the one world religion of scientism. This is all a 100% antigod/antibible/antichrist religion. It is an atheist religion, and all Christians are in reality all atheists pretending to be Christians. Unfortunately, The Actual Fact Is, the Mormon god does not exist... The Mormon god once was a mortal man, lives near a star called kolob, likely has many many wives that bare billions of his children, and is the literal father of Satan, and the Mormon god “ironically” teaches Mormons can become gods (polytheistic- multiple gods) EXACTLY like Satan desires to be a god! Mormonism literally worships a false god. As Aposed to The True and Living Jesus Christ who is literally The One and Only God, creator of the universe and savior of the world! True Christians follow the one and ONLY Lord, God and savior Jesus Christ... not the false Mormon christ who is Satan’s bother. In other words.. the Mormon god and the Mormon jesus literally do not exist. And the Mormon leaders have deceived most their followers into believing the false Mormon Christ is the same Jesus as the True Christian GOD, Jesus Christ.... I pray that you will desire to continue your journey with absolute honesty and integrity with yourself … look in the mirror into your very own eyes and ask yourself. “Am I truly being honest with myself?” I pray The One and Only God, creator of the universe, and savior of the world - Jesus Christ - will touch the hearts and open the eyes of ALL Mormons everywhere to HIS Truth Light and Love. Take care. The truth truly does make you free. SADLY the false "brother of Satan" jesus is NOT enough to save Mormons. However- Our Lord GOD Jesus Christ is enough to save ALL of mankind, amen.

MC,....This was done this way to show that Jesus was Gods Messiah. It was painting the picture of the shadow of water baptism representing Gods giving of the Holy Spirit to Gods chosen ones. With humans, the spiritually dead, it happens the opposite. One first receives the Holy Spirit from God, (becomes born again) and then later on gets water baptized to represent the spiritual baptism that has already occurred. When one of Jesus's chosen ones becomes saved from that moment on, there is no dove that ascends on them, nor no voice from heaven. This was all a specific thing to Jesus alone. All done to verify Jesus was Gods Messiah.

Heavenly intercourse? Really? Where do you come up with this stuff? Andrew, please take soteriology from the WHOLE of scripture. What we DO for salvation QUALIFIES us for it. It does not replace Christ’s atonement and we cannot earn it. Even Evangelicals must DO something, even if it is only to believe, otherwise all with be saved regardless. Scripture clearly teaches us Christ’s doctrine: Faith, repentance, baptism, and endure to the end.

If you are under the law, one sin can condemn you for eternity.... scary. Only the blood of Christ removes us from judgement by the law.

Luke 3-16 is speaking of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This is what saves, not water baptism. Water baptism only comes after one has already become saved, not before. It is nothing more than a shadow of the baptism that matters, the baptism Jesus does with his Holy Spirit. The problem here is you do not at all understand the gospel nor the Bibles Christianity. You only understand the Godless worlds lies and deceptions.

@@mariocano2767 ,...This and Mark 16-16 again is referring to the spiritual baptism of the receiving of the Holy Spirit. This is the only baptism that saves. How do you not understand that if our work of getting baptized did anything then salvation is of our wills and our works? Salvation has nothing whatsoever to do with anything we do. It is 100% dependent on God and what God does. The problem is, like all the blind and lost, you want to add yourself and your works into the equation. This is exactly what all false religions do. You want to take credit for saving yourself by what you have done and intellectually figured out.

Wait. First, and it isnt a disagreement on theology but a technicality.... Jesus is, what is called (now dont freak out and try to get this removed) a "bastardization" of His actual name. This proves that it isnt in the name here on Earth but in God's Word, who is actually named, Yeshua (English translation would actually be Joshua). We can cut it all down to The Word, as His (and our) Father is "I Am".

Ontological questions about Christ and His relationship with Christ is how the Pharisees tried to trip up the Savior. Why would you approach people and destroy their faith in the Son of Man? The only thing you’ll do doing this to Mormons is create an atheist. You’re saying believe our creeds over your creeds after telling them they can’t trust another man’s interpretation of God. Apologia I believe you believe you’re helping but destroying faith in a supreme being and faith in a Savior who provided an atonement for them will hurt their belief in any interpretation or creed.
