Thank you, dear brother, for recording this. One thing I must point out is the Lord didn't say the Antichrist will come in the Lord's name, but rather in his (the Antichrist's) own name. Please see John 5:43. (Btw, I understand the term for "if" and "when" is the same in the Greek text. Thus, it can be translated when another comes in his own name rather than if...). Other than for that one thing, it seems patristic. Again, thank you.

Here is what I found in the text I recorded. To me this is clear and shows exactly what the Scriptures say. Tell me what you think: "He will strive to repudiate the Divinity of the Lord Jesus Christ and will try to destroy His Church and Mysteries, replacing them with himself, claing to be a god and demanding that people bow to him as to God. The Lord teaches about this clearly when He says that Antichrist, 'will come in My name.' "Antichrist," explains St. John Chrysostom, "will not say that he is sent from the Father, that he came according to His will; but completely the reverse, he will violently usurp everything that does no belong to him and call himself God. This is what Christ meant when He said that Antichrist 'will come in My name'" (pg 25). I think this is referring to Matthew 24:5: "For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many." What do you think?

@@OrthodoxWisdom, brother, another point from the reading. Contrary to what he seems to say/imply, my understanding was that many, outside the tr. of Dan (in other words, from the reamining trbs), would heed Elias (or at least the great sign of his & Enoch's resurrection) & return, i.e., repent, as St Paul prayed with pain of heart (& in fulfillment of prophesy, including Daniel's, Malachi's...), before the Last Day.

First, I referred correctly to Matthew 24:5, not 25:5. It appears there is a sense in which Antichrist comes in Christ's name in name only, saying he is the Savior and ruler of the world, but of course does not come in Christ's name in truth. Also, the entire life of Antichrist will be a blasphemy against God, so calling himself God and demanding worship as God will be natural for him. St. Paul says, "Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God." -2 Thessalonians 2:3-4. These are difficult texts, but take the time to read more carefully and I think you will find the answers you are looking for. @@OrthodoxWisdom, brother, as for his meaning, he probably does means something like what u suggest above. Antichrist means both against the Lord & instead of the Lord. Thus, one who both opposes God & wants to take the place of God, which is what Satan, the one by whom he will be totally possessed, does & wanted to do. In the Scripture that I referred to earlier the Lord very clearly says those who rejected Him will receive/crown the Antichrist & that the latter will come in his own name. No surprise there as he will be possessed entirely by the evil one, a creature, who opposes God, his creator, & fell from heaven for wanting to usurp God's place. Thru' the Antichrist, he'll blaspheme by saying he is God to take God's place among God's creatures & have many, through their spiritual blindness or fear, bow to him as God.

I think a lot of this conjecture is pretty poorly supported by the text and symbolism/mythology. Christ, the Bright and Morning Star aka Lucifer (Revelation 22:16), is symbolically Prometheus-Mithras less the adversarial aspect (Satan). Antichrist is Prometheus with an exaggerated adversarial aspect. Similarly, Mary is symbolically Inanna-Ishtar without the swords and rose blooms, whereas the Harlot (Babalon) is the exaggerated sword and rose bloom aspect. I think it is clear to those who can see symbolically that we are in the age of Antichrist and Babalon -- this is the end of the Christian world. Hopefully it ends with a whimper and not the lusted-after world-engulfing cataclysm. The focus on all these materialist notions of "entering the temple of Jerusalem" and other such materialist expectations will hopefully accomplish a quiet end to the age. Antichrist already rules us: to what/whom do the masses look for salvation? To technology -- to Prometheus embodied -- with disdain to the anachronism of Christianity. For reference, Ίησους has the numeric value of 888, and the ΙΧΘΥς cryptogram (Ίησους Χριστος Θεού Υιός Σωτήρ: Jesus Christ God's Son Savior) found on early Christian epitaphs and papyri is a wheel with 8 spokes; Mary is depicted typically wearing red robes with the 8-rayed star of Ishtar on her forehead and shoulder. Jesus and Mary are symbolically the male and female aspects of Venus in Christianized form. The symbolic connections are rather obvious when you look into them.

guy Osment, i take it u r a protestant. i'm amazed at how many non-Orthodox watch our Orthodox channels & comment! anyway, do u believe the Lord's 2nd Coming will constitute an earthly reign, in which he rules all the peoples of the earth from the rebuilt temple? do you believe he will be a handsome man, born of a woman, about 30 years old, when he's revealed to the world & that he will perform many spectacular miracles that will astonish & impress most people? do u believe he will offer an irresistibly attractive peace to a war-weary world? if u do, u will not be unlike many other poor protestant people. may God have mercy on u--& us--in the hard days ahead. may He save u--& us.

@@dummynames9238 Hi. I am a Protestant but Protestants vary big time in what they believe. I really like Gentry and Sproul they are Reformed Theologians. So to answer your Questions. They do not believe in a 1000 year earthly reign they believe its a spiritual reign with Gods people from the time of his resurrection, the 1000 years symbolic for a very long period of time. i.e. The Lord owns the cattle on a 1000 hills which really means he owns the cattle on approx. 1,200,000 hills. They believe as I do that when the Lord returns that is the end of human history and the righteous and wicked are judged at the same time. They don't believe in 2 or 3 visits as some do. They and I don't believe there will be a rebuilt 3rd Temple as so many do believe. They and I don't believe in a future 666 Antichrist as most Christians seem to but rather that particular prophecy found its total fulfillment in Nero Caesars reign AD54-68.
