The Imam of our mosque once brought up this story during a sermon. When he came to the part of Khidr murdering the child his voice and body language changed for a split second. He lowered his voice and slightly turned away from the microphone for like a 10th of a second. His body folded in on itself and you can tell he was really uncomfortable. Even more funny, he referred to the boy as a "young man" and not a child. This moment is forever ingrained in my mind because of how revealing it is.

Brilliant video!! The story of Khidr & the child, is quite simply a terrible, terrible story!! Apart from its bloodthirsty nature it exposes the complete incoherence of freewill. Plus the message of “Don’t question things that seem bad,” is arguably one of the most dangerous aspects of religion and has led to terrible crimes committed in the name of God. It’s also easy to see how such a mentality could be used to justify honour killing. I realise the author wanted to convey the message: “Don’t judge a book by its cover,” but it’s done in such a crude and flawed manner. For a book whose main claim to fame is Divine eloquence, many ‘mere humans’ have expressed this message far more eloquently - and without innocent kids being murdered.

This is one of my very earliest question when i brought up as a moslem because ofc my parents are moslem and my dad is religious man who loves to justify abuse to kids like it's okay to mocking and hitting kids because they're the parents and always knows better. I always have this question in mind while crying but never dare to ask cause i know i will get beaten i can read qur'an when i was just 4 and pray 5 times read the translation even though i am not arabic but from islam majority country because i kid you not people who hold religion tightly to their heart esp islam can just justify horrible things because the ideology itself is just so abusive to women and man couldn't see it ofc they're in the privileged position. I love dancing, traditional dancing and even though i was just 4 i can't do it like it's haram and attract attention like no wonder even prophet marry 5 yo my life was so messed up like who in the right mind kid just want to die if they don't have abusive parents i mean some kids are submissive and i am i tried to be good girl and religious but i somewhat also have this critical thinking that's they hate esp i am just a girl and consider as stupid and cry baby. I lost all my dreams. Heck even my father beating me up for just using sleeveless cloth inside home said it's kafir clothing like don't be a slut it's his true words when i was kindergarten. I still hate my life. Physical scars is fading away but not emotional ones and they're sometimes wondering why i have low self esteem like parents can be so stupid they certainly don't know nothing better .. But it's too late my brain is already fucker up. I was crying for crayons and drawing is haram who do you think you are talking back it filled with grotesque memories. If anything maybe this kid who've been killed is living better life though as they think innocent kids will go to the heaven i was so indoctrinated like that that's why i wish i just die like i believe but also question at the same time because it's what they shoved to my brain mostly. Well beating children is not abusive here culturally and it's not frown upon in religion even though my father is the one who has anger issues but he's already degrading me as human since i was just kid i know this hatred because he wanted a son as woman is liability. Fuck this religion i hate it it cause harm but people still defend it.. Like it's your father not anyone yeah you don't know you're unlucky if you get parents who practice it to the core. Everything i do is never good enough even some parents from my friend wished that theybhave children like me because i was smart and behaved mature, not crying not clingy like well enough ofc cause i can't even ve kids on my home like somewhat i am the mature one and my dad keeps yelling for his incompetence in life. I guess he actually don't want any kids but his religion forces him too and the cost is my life. I don't even wanna be here. And he didn't want me either. They believe that the prayer of the parents to the kids can be easily granted from god then why thefuck they talk to me like that, they just wish me suffer i wish i could end this but i was never succeed and just too coward. It's all because i always have question on mind and they don't try to listen and just see that as disobedience. Religion kills critical thought. Believe believe believe i know better you're nothing and needs to saved you're filthy.

Do not give up questions do not give up hope. Islam truly sucks No doubt.But we must examine the phenomenon of religions and their belief systems,history and cultural impact and ask the questions 1. Why do they exist 2 . What influence has religion on the personal and public domains. 3. What is God ? Why do we need God ? Or. Do we really need a God? Is there a true religion and a true God? If so what should I do? Keep studying. Examine all. Hold fast to what's good. Let Truth set you free.

The narrative with many holes, the moral failings, it's all here, and you've explained it beautifully. For most of my life, I didn't realize most Muslims read this as it is plainly written. In the Ahmadiyya sect I grew up, they spend a dozen pages of tafsir to try to convince the reader that this was a spiritual _isra_ of Moses, and that it didn't physically take place, in order to escape the very damning moral implications of reading it as it is written.

14:00 There are plenty occurrences in the Quran that indicate the writer views Allah as a glorified human being. Such verses project Allah having feelings (love, hate, fear, anger) and committing emotion-driven acts (revenge, deception, mockery). Examples being: Surah 8 Ayah 30 (والله خير الماكرين) "And Allah is the best of the cunnings" Surah 9 Ayah 46 (ولكن كره الله انبعاثهم) "But Allah (hated/disliked) that they should go" Surah 4 Ayah 142 (يخادعون الله وهو خادعهم) "They deceive Allah but he is deceiving them" Surah 2 Ayah 15 (الله يستهزئ بهم) "Allah is mocking them" Surah 11 Ayah 34 (إن كان الله يريد أن يغويكم) "If Allah wants to lead you astray" Let alone the dozens ayahs where Quran uses vulgar language when addressing both believers and disbelievers. A language that would be viewed as shameful coming off a human king, much less the king of kings! These verses and many others were the reasons some scholars thought the Quran is not the exact words of Allah but instead, is the prophets attempt to articulate the revelations into a spoken language.

Allah Says the Smartest Things: 1. “The sun sets in a muddy spring” (Surah 18:86) 2. “He followed a way until he reached the rising place of the sun” (Surah 18-89) 3. “Allah holds the sky so as it cannot fall on the Earth” (Surah 22:65) 4. “And after that, He spread the Earth” (Surah 79:30) 5. “He (Allah) made for you the Earth like a carpet spread out” (Surah 20:53) 6. “Semen is made between the backbone and the ribs” (Surah 86:5-7) 7. “Cow’s milk is made between the dung and the blood” (Surah 16:66) 8. “The sun runs on unto a resting place for him” (Surah 36:38) 9. “We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump, and We made the lump bones, and We covered the bones with flesh. (Surah 23:13-14) 10. “We have adorned the lowest heaven with lamps and made them [missiles] for stoning devils for whom We have also prepared the torment of a blazing fire.” (Surah 67:5) 11. Fun bonus: “O you who believe, do not enter the houses of the Prophet, unless you are permitted for a meal, not (so early as) to wait for its preparation. But when you are invited, go inside. Then, once you have had the meal, just disperse, and (do) not (sit for long) being keen for a chat. This (conduct of yours) hurts the Prophet, but he feels shy of (telling) you (about it), but Allah is not shy of the truth.” (Surah 33:53) Remember, Allah is claimed to be the “all-knowing” “all-powerful” “creator of the universe” and he is quoted verbatim, word-for-word, in Allah’s “clear book” the eternal, uncreated Quran which has existed in Heaven before the beginning of time and creation. But as you can see, all-knowing Allah says things no different from a 7th century Bedouin. As the all-knowing creator of the universe, you would expect Allah to state scientific truths (in perfect, indisputable detail, requiring no jihadi-bearded dawah boys to help interpret) like the Theory of Relativity, the Double Helix Structure of DNA, Quantum Mechanics, Particle Physics, etc. But no. It's simple to prove Allah does not exist. We just need to prove Allah’s CLAIMS don’t exist. As the Quran is the “kalamullah” i.e. all-knowing Allah's verbatim word, the Quran must be 100% accurate. But it is not. The Quran makes many ignorant 7th-century statements. And since Allah’s claims don’t exist, Allah doesn’t exist. Stay away from Islam. Nothing good comes out of Islam.

It gives Muslims a justification for their bad deeds. Because the king would confiscate the boats, that unwise man had to damage it with holes. Because the boy would turned out to be bad, the unwise man had to behead him. Looks like Allah forgot to behead many evil people today when they were still a child.

What's interesting about this story is this is literally just a retelling of the story of the rabbi Joshua Ben Levi and Elijah but they replaced Joshua with Moses and Elijah with Khidr. Like it's almost exactly the same of course with some additions. Of course, the story of Joshua Ben Levi is completely legendary but it's fascinating how so many narratives within the Quran and also hadith literature is almost identical to Jewish Midrashic stories. Of course, they are all somewhat different and I think this speaks volumes about the memory, origins, and rhetorical goals of either Muhammad or early Muslims relating these stories

@@oishikhasan8500 Not to my knowledge but the lesson of the story, mentioned first in the quranic version with bird dipping its beak into the ocean is the same, basically saying "gods ways are not ours therefore just believe", but the story about traveling to a man's house while he is eating and being turned away is literally the same in both narratives. The story about child killing though... i have no idea, it might have been an original retelling or maybe there was a version of the Midrashic story that had that element in the arabia. But if you want to see the parallels yourself you can google the story of Joshua Ben Levi and Elijah and look at the commonalities for yourself

@@ryandruff5066 Maybe the story of the slain boy was woven into the original narrative by the Arabs of the time to make the "do not try to understand God's methods" point in a more intense manner. Or it could have been imported in from some Persian narrative through Arab retelling. The Persian influence on the formation of Islam is not trivial. All those cultures were mixing with each other for centuries. There are so many possibilities. Very difficult if not impossible to pinpoint where it all came from given how long it was ago and all the transmissions were oral.
@oishikhasan8500 Жыл бұрын
@Tubba That is another possibility. We could speculate all day on the origin of the story, makes for an interesting conversation. More interesting if one is an academic doing research into this topic. But at the end of the day I find the Khidr story to be a grim reminder of how barbarism can masquerade as wisdom. Stories like these hinder our moral development, traps us in the prison of dogma.

@@OnlyJesus-Saves Funny details. Seems like people like Mosis had no problemt to talk with God directly. By Mohammed could only speak to an Angel. And go this revelation through ceizures. God works in mysterious ways... If god can speak to prophets, why did simply speak to a scribe prophets to write the Quran ? This makes no sense.

@@Aksarallah "Who said it's a child? Most muslims agree that it was a young man and not a prepubescent child." Ouf, ok then. It was only a young man. Everything is fine then. "god has 3 methods of sending messages to man. Voice behind a veil, through messenger, or through angel". Each methods having flaws and making his religion indistinguishable from sects. Well, if at least everyone could see angels... Funny thing is, to delivery his final message, he still choose one of the worse way to do it. "allah knows best" I always hated this kind of sentence. It basically means to blindly trust something or someone even when nothing make sense. Why on earth anyone would like to do that.

Al Kihdr did not foresaw the future of the child because his real future was to be murdered by a false prophet. He never grew up. He never was a burden to his parents. He never was an apostate. So Al Khidr is not only a child molester, a murderer but also a liar and a fool. The kid died innocent. lsIam presents al Kidhr as a wise Muslim. A wise man who's worried by the future of a kid will teach him from his wisdom. This chapter in the Quran achieves 3 things : 1) It traumatizes the young Muslims because they are told that a random dude could kiII them for a thought crime they didn't even commit. 2) It defines innocence and guild not on reality and one's behavior but on imaginary crimes that exist only in the head of those who pretend that Allah talks to them in their crazy mind. 3) It ruins rational thinking by inverting causes and effects. The cause precedes the effect. The cause of an action can't be some potential event in the future and even less if the action prevents that cause to exist. lsIam makes people stupid.

We become grateful to someone for the favors that sacrifices their own comforts. Nobody clap to billionaires who donated 1 dollar in their whole life. Why should I be grateful to Allah for the actions that cost him nothing. Any Tibetan Monk has more control over their anger than allah.

HOLD UP... So the wise guy says the kid was gonna grow up to be a disbeliever and cause xyz to his parents... So he killed him and "saved his soul", so to speak... That means according to the "Lawh al mahfouz" (basically book of destiny that is destined to happen, written by Allah before all of creation), the kid was actually destined to have his noggin plucked off by Mr. Wise Guy; not to be a disbeliever. Which is true? Was the written destiny false? Was the wise guy lying? Is the whole story false? Or get this... Does Islam admit to alternate realities/universes??? *Cue Dr. Strange theme*.

Hi Alaadin. I frequently hear that "God's knowledge is descriptive, not prescriptive" so when Allah wrote everything, it was like a prediction that can't be false. From watching your video, I assume the hadith that confirmed the child waa destined to be a kafir is the counter-argument as it shows Allah actively chose that the child would be a kafir. How would you respond to the claim that God's knowledge is descriptive, rather than prescriptice. And keep up the amazing work!
@shassarahaman5247 Жыл бұрын
It's a stupid claim. It's just word play. A prediction that can't be false is by definition not a prediction but predestination. They play with words to confuse gullible people.

It simply doesn't work. Look: "Everything happens by Allah's will" is mildly ambiguous, sure. I think it's clear enough but let's humor the stance for the sake of the argument. So, let us say we don't know what this means exactly. Does it mean that Allah may stop an action from occuring or allow it? Or does it mean he literally makes it happen? Do you see that the two statements are nigh-identical? Still, let's say it's ambiguous once again. Look at this hadith: "Allah struck Adam's left shoulder and black souls sprouted from it. Then Allah said: 'To hell, and I don't care.' Then Allah struck his right shoulder and white souls sprouted from it and Allah said: 'To heaven, and I don't care.'" That's pretty unambiguously stating that Allah was 1. The cause of this and 2. The one who "approved it" Next, Aisha observes a funeral of children and remarks how she is at ease knowing the children will go to heaven. Mohammed says "You don't know if they will go to heaven because Allah may have ordained them to hell when they were still in their father's loins." There is no free will. It's just there to get you to follow the bs.

An interesting question is, assuming Muhammad authored the Quran, was the story of Al-khidr invented to justify his own 'morally confusing' actions, such as killing the children of certain jewish tribes or marrying wives of his conquered enemies (hoping to find their tribes hidden treasure)? And at the risk of getting conspiratorial, it even makes me question whether these stories were 'fabricated' by muslim scholars, long after Muhammad's death in order to justify his historically questionable actions. Im pretty sure that kind of 'after the matter addition' to history is commonly accepted of the stories of Christians, Roman, Chinese etc... so its at least possible with islam. Just a thought...

I know with predetermination and the foreknowedgle that he is going to fail it's maybe missing the point, but: How long was Moses supposed to wait to learn the lessons being shown to him? Like ok, I get the fishing boat. Maybe while they are on their way back the tyrant king would have shown up, seen the damage, and said "Ok, you can have that." But how long would it have taken for the orphans to dig up the treasure? And how long would it have taken for the faithful parents to get another child and for that child to either grow up to be a faithful person too, or for that child to grow up, give birth to several prophets, and for those in return to father several prophets each?

What a doozy of a story! There are far better ways to instruct someone in humility than being an accessory to a crime. Musa and Al-Khidr kind of reminds me of the plot of a Turkish tale I read in a magazine when I was a kid. In the story, a sultan throws a grand banquet, but decides to do a test and dresses like a beggar. He is refused entrance to the banquet. Later on, he dresses in his nice clothes and goes to the banquet, where he proceeds to act like a total slob and by the end of the dinner, his clothes are as dirty as that of the beggar's. At the end of the banquet, he tells his bewildered advisors that it was him who was at the door, dressed as the beggar, and that they needed to be more mindful of who wanted to join the feast. Though it had a common moral of "don't judge something at first glance" and it's been many years since I read that story, the fact that deception and trickery are such strong elements of the story have always stayed with me.
