Great to see Broken almost self-actualize!!! As someone who sympathizes quite a bit with him, I know why people dislike him, but as someone who’s been at rock bottom like that, I sort of understand where he’s coming from. Also, the line “fly, little bird!” will never not reduce me to tears. She also self-actualized. She learned to love us to the degree that she can understand loving something that isn’t her. Her last thoughts weren’t of her lost divinity, but of us…

i get it, the way the other voices encourage him out of that pit is just like when our friends in real life encourage us beyond tragic events that have happened to be happy with ourselves again. if you think about it this is the only state where the princess has resisted the immediate takeover of the shifting mound's hands which says something

I kinda felt the same way here too. For the first (and last) time, for once, Apotheosis began to understand that there's more to love than just herself, especially in the moment when her demise is imminent and there's no escape from it. The Shifting Mound comes to claim her as another vessel and she realizes there's no escape from it as she starts to feel cold and grows weaker by the second.... and yet, she realizes it's not just the end for her but also her precious little bird too that she wanted to have by her side and serve her like the pet she sees him as. And yet.... she feels a tiny but noticeable sense of love and selflessness she never had before inside herself that if she goes down.... her little bird will too. And so, seeing that even if this is the end for her, she believes it won't be the same for her little bird upon sacrificing herself and giving him a chance to be free and to live the existence that she has been denied, perhaps even hoping that he'll remember her once she's gone. And so, she genuinely apologizes to him for not treating him as her equal that he deserved as she uses the last of her strength and throws him towards the tear that leads outside the Construct.... this is basically the equivalent of a person that owns a pet bird and is about to go down a sinking ship as they set their bird free to escape it's inevitable fate as the person embraces death but is happy their bird gets to live another day.

Also I find super cute that she doesn’t hurt you with the intent to hurt, it’s just a necessary step to the freedom, she even says “here’s the reward for your anguish”, and when the shifting mound catches her, she actually throws you away so that you can enjoy the world beyond

i think with every princess wanting to get out, they don't know where they're actually leaving, they think it's just the cabin, but only the apotheosis and the wild become so powerful they become the closest to the shifting mound than to the princess. but when either of them become powerful it's when both of you work together, are the closest and both of you want to leave.

Paranoid, Hunted, and Contrarian are the best bros they got their flaws, but they are the best they give good thoughts and helps the most but I do personally favor the cold he's so sassy and uncaring he thinks he's so above it all but with everything that happens not caring about death is the one thing that helps you.

​@@randomguy8415 He's not really uncaring, he's finding something "interesting" so he can feel "something" because he is the voice closest to the truest meaning of Long Quiet, so I also believe he is the strongest voice among all. And because we have a piece of her, he has this interest to "experience" a moment or a tug in his heart. But if nothing happens, then he's just fine with it. I think that if Apotheosis occurred, he's the only one who would instantly turn the princess to ribbons or straight up wipe her out even without anyone's help. As long as "Long Quiet" wants it to be. If Long Quiet and the Hero wants vengeance for the pain she inflicted, Cold will reinforce Long Quiet to execute it, whether our way (Giving her pain like this one) or his way (Straight up despairing as we show her True Oblivion) that both Shifting Mound and Narrator wouldn't want. I really believe he's the strongest part of us. He's indifferent in many routes, letting others do their way, but he will never hesitate and will always follow the Long Quiet if we needed him to be. He's just riding along in the Specter and Princess the Dragon, though he supports and misses you. In the Nightmare, he remains indifferent and has proven that only "You" matters, and not us (voices) In Drowned Grey, he's fine because he knows that we are just fooling ourselves with the sensation we are feeling (Drowning) In the Razor route, he only shows interest when she becomes a true blade, and even then, he showed so much result if only the doubts of other voices and yours didn't interfere with the body. In the Quantum Break Fury, he's even more unbothered and pristine compared to Broken when the princess is breaking our DNA. He has the mastery of his own self, he always seems nonchalant and uncaring at first glance but he really enjoys the company of others to feel the emotion of annoyance. He may look so unbothered that he's practically useless but if Long Quiet asks for his help, Smitten, Skeptic, Stubborn or any voices won't be able to move you.

I really enjoy the change they gave to this version of the Apotheosis. She always felt too uncaring in the previous version, even the Shifting Mound says that she wouldn't mourn for you. But in this version, she's able to care for you. Because every version of the Princess holds SOME feeling for you.

if deities had nobody to bow to them i'm sure they'd feel unfulfilled, that's why she has to care for you. i also like that she's now another princess, other than the wild, powerful enough to break the bounds of the construct and see that yellow-orange glow. but then also the epic fight and the fact that the blade actually changes size, and shoots tornadoes.

​@@Abraham_the_pierra My guess it's the "true world" And that the cabin, the woods and etc are just a cage created by the Narrator. The Narrator said he created us. And we are everything, including the dark walls of The Long Quiet. And on one of the endings where we slay Shifty, Hero says "There is no one to trap us here but us" So WE are the cage, we are just no aware of that/not strong enough to break it by that point. And beyond the cage, there is the real world the Narrator was trying to protect- Where he came from and where he originally created us to trap the princess. My guess is that the "outside" is either an universe full of possibilities, or just a world with medieval-like settings where everything is just normal. Just a theory tho.

Broken saying "But i love her" only to get hit by a "she doesn't even know you bro" was a nasty awakening for him but ngl he needed that

Not really. The narrator had no right to say it like that. What he really needed was us stilling our doubts. But a real, much more sympathetic awakening would be: Hero confessing (and confirming a longstanding fan theory) that he was in love with the princess too, the first time we met her, only to then see her for what she really was when she beat us to death; him recapping meeting Broken who, at the time, was just complaining about how much that first beating hurt; then asking him how that was any different from the way she's treating him now. Broken, slowly coming to terms with this, admits he hurts but refuses to stop believing in her, Paranoid realising that if he does he'll have nothing else to believe in. Both voices, against the backdrop of an impatient narrator who brings up our loss of air, then encourage him to believe in something else - us, and to show her how strong he truly is. Broken wants to but doesn't know how, to which Hero implies that it's up to us, the decider, to cement it.

It would've been kind of badass if during the fight, when The Broken finally learned to grow past his obsession with worship, and finally found his self worth he would've been renamed The Reborn/The Repaired. To show his growth in the idea that if someone builds themselves up after being truly broken, they can rise to be stronger than ever before.

Not really? We already have him in Cage and Adversary-Fury and he's still Broken, but his empathetic side is shown a lot more. And this is no different - he feels like he's been violated and, as an act of revenge uses empathy against her. He's making her feel what he felt, not killing her. And he's not just badass, he's scary, like pre-Happily Ever After Smitten scary. And it completely goes against the idea that Broken's arc is similar to someone turning to a higher power, or joining a cult, in the face of despair then slowly realising it's not what they thought it was. Even then, they'll still feel like that part of them is still there. Just because you became stronger doesn't mean you stopped being broken. It's the same in other situations. Plus, the devs were going to use a similar idea in their original development plans for the game, but there's a reason they didn't.

Plus he's all about empathy now and he understands our shared connection with the princess. That's the whole reason he turns on her in that ending - he finally finds something else to believe in and he ends it, not by killing her or hurting her for hurting's sake, but by forcing her to empathise with him, and us, by transferring each other's consciousness between both. Plus, look at him in Fury and Cage - he clearly wants to help them because he understands and feels their pain. Wild too, but but more in the sense that he, again, understands our shared connection but I digress. My point is: how can he be a simp if he empathises with her on a deeper level than Smitten ever could in a route that isn't Thorn?
