Just a guess, but thinking the reason there's always a tire in a creek/river. Probably a tire swing over the water that eventually gave way.

You guys are doing great. I did some hiking on June 17 - 18 in places where you will be soon and it was getting muggy and hot. Tougher miles for sure. You will still be seeing rocks and plenty of them along the way but not like in PA, I don't think. You're getting into sections I'm familiar with and I look forward to seeing you go through there. The NY section is next on my to do list so I'm eager to see your next few installments. Yeah, you do sound like a hick to this CT guy but after 120 + episodes I barely even notice it. 17 miles in all that heat is amazing. Don't know how you guys do it. Some very nice views this day. Love seeing those small mountain towns. The little bear was so cute. Hope his injury heals. Yes, we all have an accent depending on what part of the country we're visiting. A southern accent is charming. I'm originally from PA, now living in Wisconsin. I still have the PA accent, as I'm told. Lived in PA for 18 years and Wisconsin for about 45. You'd think I'd have a WI accent, but the PA stuck with me. Take care in that heat.
