The Damascus center opened 2 years ago. I was number 13 out of Damascus headed north on February 20th so he probably got a new tag at Damascus.

I prayed for you and your friend. For his health and that his eyes may be open to the light. I also prayed for strength and guidance be brought upon you through the Holy Spirit. And that you may be comforted through your time of sadness. My husband has the same affliction, he has been fighting for over a year. He has cancerous tumors all over his body. We are both catholic and have deep love for God and his glory. Every day is a blessing. Thank you for your information on your channel. I’m planning a bunch of section hikes next year and the following year. Both of my boys are Eagle Scouts and I am a leader in the troop in town.

My group stayed at Stumble Inn in Front Royal. Excellent hostel. Clean and well organized. Nice hosts. Only issue we had was we hit it in peak season.... Because of this they were VERY demanding that we left on a very early shuttle apparently so they could get it clean for the next group. We understand that BUT there was zero give to this. Screwed me up personally so bad that I didn't hike that day and took a zero in town to regroup.

When i pray for a person in need, i try to always include their spouse, children, caregivers, med. staff, etc & pray/thank The Lord for not only (01) HIS SPIRIT's providing Wisdom, Comfort, Strengrh, Courage, Peace, etc. in our hearts, but also for (02) dispatching His 'ministering spirits' to support, protect, intercept, etc. according to HIS WILL, and what i call (03) 'pilgrim pathway' moments, as it seems that He directs 'our' steps (Prov.16:7) to intersect 'others' for various ministry needs. i (Jn.3:30) believe that we should begin each day 'praying for' and 'looking for' these opportunities for ministry. Love in Christ, Stv (Ps.34:3,7)

Good luck with your friend, brother. I lost my first wife to cancer when she was 43. It was brutal at the end, for sure. She was a believer. The biggest thing as a fisher of men is to show up, & show up consistently. Maybe send a note everyday, that is if you can't be there physically...give the family space as they need it. Even if your friend's no longer in a position to respond to grace, his loved ones may some day by positive interaction with you...& then God later. Hang in there. Sorry. It is indeed tough.

We section hiked SOBO from Springer to Len Foote on Friday 3/1 and saw 6 NOBOers hiking and 6 holed up at Black Gap Shelter due to weather. We picked up on Saturday 3/2 and encountered about 25 NOBOers on trail starting with number 572 and, as of this morning at 9am #660 had been issued. So around 100 tags issued in 24 hours. Just anecdotal fyi….

Every visitor center starts with 1. Given that people start at different places all over the trail and many don’t bother with the tag, the number isn’t really a data point the ATC uses. The numbers are more for the hiker’s information

He goes where the Lord tells him to stop. Sometimes that's Maine, sometimes lower. He goes where he can help the most so once all the NOBO get past him he starts helping SOBO's
