My daughter had the same issue with food.on trail. She was also sick consistently and found out she was allergic to the permethrin she had sprayed on her tent and clothing. She finally went to the hospital in Marion where they fixed her up.

I just read the PA game commission issued a warning on Monday evening to AT hikers that dog treats were reported as stuffed with fish hooks. This is near George W. Outerbridge shelter. Eastern Pa in Lehigh County.

Couple comments, one a bit old. There was a persistent bear at Pogo Memorial Campsite in Maryland (NOBO 1052.7) back on April 22nd. He did not get any food and moved on after awhile of yelling. I know a hiker reported it to a local conservation officer. This was the second bear sighting in the area in a week. For the beaver dam area, the water was running over the logs a couple days ago and the logs do turn on you. I am apparently not as agile as Stick the Eagle, I did not stay dry! Sounds like the water has risen in that area. I watched Stick’s vlog that included that crossing and the water was low and not running over any of the logs he used to cross on with dry feet. FYI. Sounds like the detour might be the better option if you don’t want to wade in mud and water.

I was watching Auggie Hikes day 54 there is a small black dog like Sadie in his video. He was at Cornelius creek. check minutes 8:47 and 9:13. at the end of his video he names the people staying at the shelter.

Just got an email from some friends of mine that know I hike with dogs, there’s some idiot up in the Lehigh gap area in PA throwing dog treats along the trail with fishhooks stuffed in them. You can do a search and get a map of the area and some news articles. Figured you’d be able to get the word out, thanks for all you do.

Franconia notch is at the beginning of the whites I believe. He still has the presidential traverse to do that includes, mt Washington, Maddison, and the wildcat range. before completing the whites. the presidential traverse can be done in one day.

Hi friends. I'm new to this AT via KZbin. I'd like to deliver a bit of trail magic in honor of the youtubers that I follow. I have opportunity to visit the footbridge that crosses the James River in Virginia. I can go mid may for day. Do you think I'll be able to see thru hikers mid-may crossing the James? Would it be a benefit at that location? How do you plan out a bit of trail magic? I don't even know where to begin. -EverHopeful

I’m about to start my first section hike on the AT with new equipment. Just wondering what I should spray with Permethrin and can I spray Scotchgard on a new tent over the Permethrin. Thanks for the advice.

Cloths, tent, but check with the manufacturer first to make sure it isn't harmful to sealants.

Not sure about scotch guard. Most tents don't need it. A lot of tent fabrics won't absorb scorch guard or premeritian

Both. But lick your finger before for an easier insertion. Afterwards is your choice but not required. @SmokeyDukems

I'm sure you miss out on a lot of views and things but that's not the point of thier hike. It's not a hike mist would enjoy but for them it's about the challege and not the viewes. Hike your own hike is applicable.

I have hiked thousands of miles and I hate rushing, even on 20+ mile days I always take time to enjoy the views, the trees, the grass, the experience. I am just curious what is the reward at the end if the whole hike is just a blur.... That's all. Good luck to them. I hope they all make their goals.... I am just trying to understand what they get out of it besides the accomplishment of hiking three major trails in one year, which is no small deal.
