One September weekend I flew the Hatz Biplane up to North Adams in northwestern Massachusetts for a short overnight backpacking trip along the Appalachian Trail where it passes through Mt. Greylock State Reservation. It’s a popular hiking area, not exactly remote wilderness, but it was a good easy destination to see how the plane worked for this kind of trip. Biplanes and backpacking both require you to pack light and both leave you exposed to the elements.
Most of the fly camping videos I see on KZbin were shot in the western mountains or high desert areas. The northeast woods are quite different!
