Wow. Yet another example of why KZbin is so terrible. You should have so many more subs! This is amazing! Thank you so much for this video. i wish some big bushcraft KZbinr would show this to people and get some more eyes on this! Down booties are insanely expensive. can't wait to try this probably tonight but i'll be sewing them by hand and using an old down puffy coat. And a Tyvek exterior lol. thanks again

Awesome, thanks for sharing! Neat re-purposing of a down throw... kind of in line with what I was thinking regarding doing with a sleeping bag and now will have to keep my eye out for the down throw or blankets in the nylon material.

Great she cave, ,& project... I have cut one quarter of a Chinese sleeping bag into sleeping bag foot insert, it has sat there for 6 months, you have encouraged me to finish, thanks, I look forward to your hiking videos.

Brilliant. Sewists might start at about 12 minutes for a target visual, then go back.

Hi, Mary Anne! Me and Lumberjack met you at Springer Mountain shelter on the AT. It took me awhile to find your channel, but thanks to Runa Hikes, I found you! I hope all is well with you and that you are in good health!

Genius! I have the same down throw and was planning to dissect it into booties for myself and a blanket for my new dog. Thank you sew much, now I know how! You’ve also inspired me to fashion my own sewing room. Looking fwd to more videos!

Loved this video! How ingenious! I love someone who can think, plan and be creative. I never took sewing class in school, but i have found that I can make anything as long as i don’t have to follow a pre made pattern (in sewing and crocheting) I was an art major in college, so I learned quite a bit about design and love to creat something original. Maybe the artist in me is the reason i can’t seem to follow other people’s patterns....have to make it my own...lol. You do a great tutorial and have such an ease about yourself while teaching through the camera. Your booties turned out awesome!! Once you are back off the trail, you could really keep your channel going with all sorts of things to teach. You seem to be very knowledgeable about a host of things.

More elaborate pattern than I could follow. They turned out great. I thought about adding elastic to the cuffs so they would stay on. It may be a little late to tell you this as you are already on the trail but you could turn them inside out and tack the inner toe to the outer toe so the lining doesn't come out when you take them off. Let us know how they work ?

deborah gracie I actually added an elastic (narrow shock cord) around the base of the ankle and that has worked out well. Good idea about tacking the toes together. You think like an engineer/sewist. As far as drafting the pattern, I was using a draping technique. This is where fabric is wrapped and pinned together around the body to get a perfect fit. Taking nips and tucks (darts), checking that everything hangs straight both horizontally and vertically. It is my favorite way for customizing patterns.

Hi MaryAnne, thank you for sharing your pattern. I have one question, how wide at the widest point was the Pellon pattern, I bought 15" width pre package from Walmart, not sure it's wide enough. Please advise if I should go back for the by the yard. Thank you Kristin
@becuzicaniammaryanne59644 жыл бұрын
The ultimate pattern is exactly 15” wide X 15” tall. I used a wider width of Pellon, but you could tape pieces together to make it larger if needed.
