Awesome video. You want lying about being prepared funny story, My 1st time up in that area I went to to hike the 1st section of the Appalachian trail and I started on the approach true with a 100 l backpack military surplus and my shelter was just the tarp and it was in February needless to say it was a pretty cold night I camped on the approach trail and believe me after that I invested in real hiking gear lol.

Enjoyed your video, I'm planning to do the same trip this month including the approach trail, just wondering how long did it take you from springer to Neels gap? Thanks
@Ramdinohikes6 жыл бұрын
Hey Tim, Tks for the comment and question.3 days although not 72 hrs. I started Friday at 1:oo after getting a shuttle from the parking area Byron Reece trailhead parking to the parking at FS road for Springer. Finished at Neel Gap around 2ish on Sunday I did not do the approach trail so that will take you a day. For me Day 1 = 9 miles Springer to Hawk Mtn Shelter, Day 2 = 16 miles Hawk Mtn Shelter to Lance Creek, Day 3 = 7 miles Lance Creek to Neel Gap.

What time of the year did you do this? I want to do this hike when there’s not a lot of people.

Ok, I realize you went on April 19-21. Is it better to go in May?
@Ramdinohikes5 жыл бұрын
So the best thing is to do A FF or SOBO to stay away from crowds. I plan to start my thru the year before and do several sections for a week at a time to get me into Tenn or Va and then get back on trail by mid March or even April. BY then the herd will have thinned and stretched out and bubble issues won't be an issue.

Ramdino I love catching up on your AT updates every week. Maybe one day I can get out and do the whole trail but for now we do sections. We are 5 dads that go to church together and have about 250 miles under our belt over the last 3 years. I’d love your opinion on my first attempt to document a section on KZbin. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qX6ag2SEhrd8qZosi=_SFRKbCZeRgY1rS-

Not bad for a first stab at it. you'll get better, just keep producing content. I'll be glad to have a chat with you and give you some pointers and drill down on some critique if you're interested in that. Book a coaching call calendly.com/ramdino/50min
