I was with my friend who face-planted when she was using her poles incorrectly. She was carrying them both foward together instead of alternating with her stride. When they were both behind her, she tripped on a rock and landed on her face! With her pack on and her poles both behind her with the straps on her wrists she couldn't even get up. Please have someone show you how to use them correctly. If you alternate them, landing each nearly behind your step, beside your heel, it propels you forward and keeps you safer. It makes 3 points of contact with the ground. I don't want you to fall again 😢

Love your videos! Always positive, funny and uplifting plus great views dancing and music 🎶 ❤ Tell Captain that he can shave his legs like the athletes do. 😅 Then he can still wear his shorts. 😉 Congratulations on the 1000 miles and enjoy your family rest day. 😊 🙏 ❤

Good for you for getting Oboz! I know they're heavy because I compared a lot of boots on Amazon but you need something more than Trail Runners on the trail, especially for the problems that you're encountering with your feet. Love you sunshine, love you captain, Nan

You're talking about being prepared for the trail. In addition, some people may not be the hikers that you are, meaning their skill on the trail. All those other things can come into play but they may think a hike is hard and you may think it's a piece of cake or vice versa. Sorry to say my peace twice here. Love you both, Nan

This is the video I’ve been waiting for. You are now in my neck of the woods. Welcome to the roller coaster then on up to Harpers Ferry. I guess I’ll see that tomorrow. I did most of the roller coaster in one day and it was a day hike and I guess I was not prepared because the next day I got up, relaxed with my coffee, sat and read for a couple hours and when I went to get up, I literally could not move. That has only happened to me once so there must’ve been something else going on, because I really didn’t think the roller coaster was that difficult! Long but not hard.

What is amazing, is that when you fall, you get back up and keep hiking. Tics are so aggravating. Glad you guys are doing tic checks. Very interesting how you are foing your hike. It works.

I bought my last pair of hiking shoes at the store you shopped in Winchester! I have never seen a tic remover. Cool!

I know you did some treatment with Sawyer's Permethrin earlier...may be time to retreat. Also, Sawyers makes the Picaridin, spray or lotion, that can help with warding them off, as well as other bugs / biting flies, from exposed skin.

With your concern over bears you really should educate yourself on identifying the type of bears around by examining bear scat. Black bear scat is dense and usually contains remains of various berries. Grizzly bear scat on the other hand contains little bells and smells of pepper spray.
