Missy is right. That Trail Angel is doing what makes her happy, helping trail hikers. Don't be shy next time. She probably had a trash bag for you to use also and most Trail Angels wouldn't mind a shot out. What a great hike your having and do not worry about making perfect videos. It's easy to check a hammock ( even a DL ) for tears ect. Just take the UQ off and hold up the outside of the hammock towards the sun and when you look from the inside any defects will be easy to spot.

Attempted trail in 1985. Made it to next shelter North of Erwin. Got terrible runs and throwing up. Likely water borne ( Giardia). After days of not eating and the runs, had to give up. Couldn't even look at the food in the backpack. Dehydration would have been a serious health issue. Took about a month for the runs to calm down. Was 23 years old. Am considering a retry upon retirement in 2024 at age 62!

@@debfee Thank you so much! It was lucky that I caught it myself and so early. I'm 41 and my doctor doesn't start routine screening until 50. I'm halfway through chemo, only 4 more treatments to go! I'm trying my best to stay strong through it all. I know I will beat this!

I watched your Superior Trail vlogs because I'm doing it this summer and then came to watch the AT vlogs! Love them so far. Now that you explained your music and why you play what you play I love listening to how you're feeling on any particular day from that! Do you ever get use to the up hills? No matter how many climbs I do I still feel like I'm going to die at the end of a big one.

When it comes to trail Angel's, the old saying, "One in hand is better than two in the bush" rings true. Lol I winced when you said you would have liked a Coke but were to shy to ask. I had the privilege of being a trail Angel last year. We fed many people on a cold rainy day. I hope no one passed us up because they were shy. I never thought how difficult or uncomfortable that may be for some people until you mentioned it.

Furthermore, I had a Trail Angel, who drove 4 hrs round trip to serve the Hikers ! Most of the time, they will avg less than 20 hikers a day and they dont want to take stuff home.. Shed that shyness ! Trail Angels are a big part of the experience.. Stop & Chat !! There's always room for a snack or chugging down a soda !! Vegas

what temp do you think would be comfy with the HG 20 quilt and an insulated pad without UQ? 40 and above? or 50 above?

Depending on the pad you could probably get to 20F. Hammock gears ratings are conservative but it depends if you sleep warm or cold and when you eat your calories. On cold nights I eat right before bed.
