Patagonia needs to send you some free stuff. LOL. I have to mention all funny it was that toddler mooned you half way through the video. But a serious question are you bear bagging? I haven't heard you mention it. Love the vlogs, keep hiking, stay strong.

Even though you guys didn’t enjoy making this video....I think it is a great one. Families who may be interested in doing what you guys are doing...even just a section hike, can learn so much from the way you have delegated to each family member to make a trip like this possible. Almost every hiker does a pack tour, so to speak, but they almost all seem the same. Very interesting to see one on this scale. Thanks for sharing!

hey Ben, I really like the part about the water, I hike for 45 years, never filtered water, just drunk from streams and lakes, during the quarantine I watched lots of hike vlogs and everyone talks about filtering water, so honestly I panicked, I need to get amazing filter(filters) for me and my kids, I thought, and then I heard you, HA! voice of one crying in the wilderness))) just speaking my mind...now, I'm at peace again ;)

Thank you guys so very much for this. I not usually a commenter, but my partner and i have been discussing backpacking next year with our, now, 19 mth old. So it's very informative seeing what and how you guys are packing. I recently purchased a Ospery Poco ag plus, before that I never even considered the fact that backpacking with her would be possible. I'm constantly doing my research but you don't really find much information out there about gear for younger ones so this was very helpful. Thank you guys again and keep on keeping on 😁

Interesting and helpful video, and just plain fascinating to see what all it took in terms of planning and prep to get all that stuff figured out and allocated appropriately to each member of the family. And as always Cami fills in the last bit with her sense of humor and wit. Love her. Thanks to both of you for accomodating us "gearheads" insatiable appetitie for these gear vids.

I've heard a lot of different opinions between boots, trail runners, etc. What ever you like best is fine. The only thing I dont understand is why eveyone thinks boots = blisters. If your getting blisters you're in the wrong boots, or you've sized them incorrectly. As long as you understand your foot shape and get a brand that fits accordinly, you'll be 100% fine.

Great informative video. So great that the kids not only carry particular things for the whole family but that they are also in charge of re-supply. Everyone pitching in and being an important piece to this puzzle called the Crawford AT thru hike. Without one of the pieces, the puzzle is not complete. I am enjoying your videos so much, glad I found you guys. Who needs T.V.

Thanks, Crawfords, this is really cool. We've gone on 1 overnight backpacking trip (& lots of car camping) with our 9 &10 yr. olds & have thought about doing the AT. Neat to see how you distributed your gear & what kinds of gear you've liked. We may have to try the 2-person quilt- I was kind of cold with our 20 deg. bags in 30-35 deg weather. And Merrells- we've liked that brand, but just had regular sneakers on our one trip & our feet/legs got pretty sore- maybe just from 1st day hiking. Did your kids talk about sore feet/legs the first few days/weeks on the trail? Enjoying your videos, wishing you more trail joy as you journey on together!

As worn out as you where I’m so very grateful for this video! I’m planning to take my two boys on the AT 2024.. one will be 5 the other 7... I’m doing my best to learn, research, taken notes, plan and test things out little by little. I will be carting most of the load in order to keep them going.. so I’m even working on high calorie, low weight boys approved snacks and meals to make at home and send... figuring out logistics on that seems quite daunting. I appreciate all your help! Thank you!

You can cut down on your filter system with a $2 coupler that sawyer sells. I attach 2 smart water bottles. I can either squeeze them or let them work as a gravity filter. I have the larger squeeze. I'm not sure if it works with the smaller one.

May I ask a question not really related. I'm in my sixties and my wife and I have been getting into backpacking and are starting to plan an Appalachian Trail hike. I have some things I'm worried about and can't seem to find the answers. I'm a disabled veteran and having to climb down clifts and hike a narrow path looking over a long drop off blows my PTSD out of site plus my injury really might not give me the mobility I need. When you get to the white mountains and southern Maine and some of those places, is there alternative paths that might be the long way around but doesn't give me the possibility of plummeting into Oblivion. Any help anyone can give and where in the future I can find these things out would be greatly appreciated. You guys are a wonderful family and your videos are great and helpful.
