The unsung hero of this machine and one thing that IMO is WAY undervalued- THE DOORS! These are probably the best of any machine in the industry right now.

I appreciate your unbiased reveiw of this unit. The only thing that is missing is when you provide the comfort analysis , please disclose your height, weight etc, so I can compare to my size. 6'2" , and a very well used 245 lbs. I enjoy your take on off-roading. Thanks

I'm 6'2" and weigh 285 and it was much too cramped for me. If it had a bench seat it would have been fine.

Nice review. I like how the rad is easy to get to as well as the oil and transmission fill points and I really like the arched bottom. Thanks for showing that I haven't seen anyone else show them in a review yet. I have to say the interior looks very narrow compared to the old model. I think if you put a couple of 200 pound guys in there they will be rubbing shoulders all day. Can Am should have discontinued the Commander name, called this the Maverick Expedition model (or something like that) kept the Maverick front end to save money and then spent that money on a new interior. This looks kind of cheap inside compared to the new Yamaha Rmax.

That thing has some great features but man is it fugly! Also why does the front hood have to stick up so high to limit forward visibility. I like the lines of the old commander better. Great review though and keep doing what you’re doing.

The commander would be ok if there were no other options. The Rmax fit and finish is so much better Jason.

Check the price difference especially if the base model Commander is all you need.

I don’t know. Is the fit and finish in the Rmax better...yes. Is it much better...that’s debatable. The storage lids in the dash and the center console with the shifter did feel very cheap and flimsy. The rest of the fit and finish is really good on the commander.

Rmax definitely has a better quality interior for sure! Commander is a lot of thinner plastic like I said so it feels cheaper in some places. Commander is still comfier though just from what I got to sit in it. Hopefully I’ll be able to do some direct side by side comparisons of the two!😉

@@jimallen9772 To each his own! I have a 19 Maverick sport XRC, which the new model Commander is based off, and in my opinion, the quality of the materials, and how it is put together is very good. I have owned Polaris machines, and my Maverick Sport is 10 times better than the Polaris in quality!

@@donschlonski2936 Honda has nothing that interest me. Can-Am is a quality machine I ride with 3 of them one a Defender with 16k on it and no problems a maverick sport with just under 14k and no problems and a x3 with 10k and no probs. Can-Am is the only one that is well made and you can change the belt on the trail.

None of the Yamaha models have turf mode. Hondas are all sold out and used ones are priced to the moon. Kawasaki's are outdated, loud, and slow. For me that leaves Polaris and CanAm. Well I wouldn't have a polaris. The engineering is non existent. So I started considering this Commander 1000. It checks all the boxes. 1000cc, large dump bed, great suspension, TURF mode, and the price isn't too crazy. Why can't I buy one? It's ugly as Fido's ass!!! It looks like the front end got smashed, swept back in a botched face lift. It's awful.

Man-o-man I couldn't agree more. I guess the designer for Can Am was the same guy Toyota used for the new Tundra. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot! Cant get past that grill area. I would buy a Wolverine or Pioneer " if" any were available. Patiently waiting...
