Consider using oxygen absorbers when packing anything with fats or oil long term- kitty food, coffee beans etc. They keep the fats from getting oxidized. And, NEVER put O2 absorbers in brown sugar haha you'll have a solid boulder on your hands! Have a blessed Christmas and wonderful New Year, from California.

I usually only buy sales items. I needed 3 dozen eggs for my Daughter's Christmas morning brunch. (Chickens don't lay this time of year here)The cheapest I could find were 3.59 and there were only 4 dozen. I went sales shopping at 6 stores. (Usually do it one or 2 times a month) At a Martins, a clerk had just filled the eggs ( about 1/2 full) and told another employee "That's it on the eggs". At the local store I bought them at, the clerk said to me"Sorry there's not much of a selection. but there's none in the back". The burger in this the part of PA is 4.39 to 5.49 a pound. It goes on sale for 3.99. Prices are higher here.....even Aldis. Thanks for the update. We have to save our pennies where we can.....Merry Christmas!

The percent my SSA will go up for cost of living will almost cover my rent increase. It will not cover all the other things that go up. Good thing I took Patara's advice put in a garden and stocked my pantry when things I use go on sale. I trade with my neighbor for haircuts. When one of us has extra produce several neighbors see who might need something. When someone is sick or had surgery someone will bring some meals. It is nice to have good neighbors 😊❤ Keep your neighbors, friends and love ones in your prayers they just might some.

Wow, p a t a r a! So you said we were up over 62% in 2023 then another 1.26% and either 2.34 or 2.84% more to get to december. So that means since you started looking at it back in 2021, we're up about 66% now. Horrendous! Thanks for your steadfast work!

Thank you for doing this. I reference your Aldi comparisons often when people talk about prices going up. The 63% from 2021 to 2023 shocks people, and I direct them to your videos. We keep stocking up when we see any kind of price break. Eggs at Aldi by me last week were $3.95/dozen and higher other places! Regular price at Aldi here for butter is $3.99. The holiday sale was $3.49. I remember when the sale was $1.99 pre-2020. We've stopped buying so many items we used to enjoy that are now luxuries such as fresh fruit, especially berries. I miss the fruit more than giving up the beef we used to be able to find on sale to have a roast once in awhile. But we are blessed and thankful and know we have more than many.

Back in 1980, i first met Jesus heart to heart! Soon afterward, my church showed a movie about the rapture. It started with a woman coming out of the grocery store & she was sitting on the sidewalk crying. A man came by & asked her if she was ok. She told him she got hit in the head as she was going to her car & they stole her groceries. She said " i just spent all my grocery money for this weeks meals...$250 & i have no more money. I don't know what i will do to feed my family this next week ! I remember thinking $250??? Hiw could you spend that kind of money on groceries. At the time i was spending 30-35$ per week for a family of 4. I was flabbergasted, but the last couple of times i have been, i have spent between 225 & $275. That is not including beef as we have our own. If that story has any foretelling accuracy according to scripture, we have to be at the door of His Coming. A wonderful event for some, but so tragic for others. I pray many will come to know Him before it is too late.

Great video! I work in 4 grocery stores (same chain) doing resets. I get frustrated seeing prices going up or yet prices stay the same, but the size of the product is being reduced. Occasionally, I see prices being dropped. I have seen items go up from a few cents to $2 in short time frames. It is so frustrating. I recently discovered Aldi's, so started shopping there. While I still buy at the store I work at - I mainly focus on sales. I also shop at an Amish store or outlet stores for great prices. I think for my own curiosity, I am going to start keeping track of the prices on the stable items I buy. I know butter here varies from 3.99 to 4.69 depending on store - it is crazy.

Today, my daughter told me that the shelves in a Seattle Bartelle Drugs (a local chain) are 98% empty. And they have been in that condition for at least a year.

Local pharmacies are almost all gone and even some of the big chains have gone out or closed more than half their stores! A pharmacy! They are known to have high prices!

I buy a 30 count carton of eggs. The price this week was almost $10. I went back and looked for an old receipt...April 2024 was half of that

My preps have come in handy. My son worked for a place the day that his insurance was to go into effect they said he was layed off and is still looking for work.
