we had a campaign where us players must find the big bad villain that is corrupting the city. We almost failed if not for our encounter with an apparition. The apparition was a pawn of the villain and the wounds on the apparition indicated who the villain was.

Is it posible you make lore vid about instant death effects? Since some of those have lore I dont know these monster sounds neat always nice to have more on ecology of undead. Natural undead and so How wights come from negative levels or worm that walks from graves rarely

Hey AJ, great video I really like the storytelling in your videos. In the old days this was one of the biggest problems as a DM. How do these creatures act in conversation or in combat. When your young and new to the game, it can be a challenge, wish I had you 40 years ago, lol. I was watching a handful of your videos last night. The OSSE dragon video was not what I was expecting. That whole wolf spider lore was soo epic AJ. I'm going to have to find stats on those wonderful creatures. Thanks AJ you have a wonderful day!

Running a game, first ask the players what type of game they like to try. a.) Lost in the dark. b.) Deal with Bestow Curse effecting your ability scores and PC reasoning capabilities and getting your PC hopelessly lost in the dungeon. c.) illusion or curses resulting in you fighting your PC party members ? d.) You want to roll up new PC to die in this adventure instead of your stander PCs ? e.) Have every player run two or three PC so you can have jump scare and horror drama one hit brutal kills. f.) Fear/horror saves resulting in PC panic causing PC death by running into a corner, door frame, or bumping your head against something. g.) Classic horror/ghost movie story, someone or few ends up dead before the rest of the group realize what monster they are fighting. h.) When PC dies, we just switch their PC over as ghosts of a given type or head over to Plane Scape AD&D2nde Ravenloft vanRichten guide to ghosts dealing with fetters and grave goods. i.) Whenever I go to run ghost stories I get a cooler with a couple bags of ice. Anytime a PC gets hit by a ghost the player sticks their hand/arm into the ice to feel the cold touch of the negative plane energy, the touch of the grave. As one of my DM says, " Put the ice pack on the back of your neck." j.) Hey, PC dies .. instead of letting them know despite them looking at the dice rolls. When PC reach zero hp, they are knock out unless drama of combat .. yup, they dead .. to getting lost alone. Hey just because your PC is now dead, your spirit is still lost in the dungeon so now you just have another exploration path then the others. Plot twist is your PC hasn't realize they're dead yet. Then they realize they're dead and trying to figure out walking through walls or just get out of the dungeon. k.) Have every player roll their PC .. favor .. item and have them named the item yet ? That is their grave good/fetter. So you can have a given ghost with equipment for theater flare appearance. Then the ghost PC acts shock that their sword just disappear from their hand because someone looted their corpse. Or a large/dire rat made off with it. Of course, seeing a phantom ghost being killed on repeat time loop of their death in front of a crease in the cave/mine stone wall being pulled in warns of a greater danger lurking. The ghost of that past PC is at the bottom of a 30ft pit with the remains of other victims of an 8hd fiendish carrion crawler call by a 4th-level Call Planar Alley or Planar binding. It is a multiple circle binding location to harvest spirits of the dead. There is a dead body of a half orc in plate armor with shield wedge tight that the carrion crawler couldn't pull through. The player had fun rolling panic dice resulting in a prolong over dramatic screaming death resulting in him becoming a ghost with his screams echoing through the mine tunnels. Anyone that tries to move the plate armor creates enough noise to draw the attention of the crawler. Hence the reason why when I run games players have multiple PCs, cause anyone that draws the crawler has to deal with multiple strength checks to keep from being drag/pull into the den of the crawler along with compression along the walls at odd angles resulting in bending limbs at odd angles breaking bones. Not forgetting the crawler paralyzing effects. It just murders the first one by the wall opening. But our gaming group likes to run one shots like that from time to time.

i would assume, it is because if you imagine a creature that can literally "walk through walls" in a sense, and you could be just in front of the wall and not even know it was there. then it pops out at you unawares, and can "attack" you/player, in such a way, you Would be at a severe disadvantage. it would be like the difference between seeing through walls and Not seeing through walls. the one who can see through can take advantage of its opponent with ease. so, it makes a lot of sense to me, as something of a non-player but an "interested party" to DnD lore etc.
