THIS STORY:
It all began on the evening of Feb. 8, 1916, when Marion Lambert didn't return home. The next morning her father Frank found the 18-year-old dead on the snow-covered ground at Helm's Woods, still holding her text books under her left arm with her gloveless hand clutched to her chest. Her mouth and lips were blackened from acid burns. An examination determined that she had died of cyanide consumption, according to news reports from the time.

_________________________________________________________
The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

I believe he killed her. He had been involved with a woman studying chemistry. Marian was cramping his ‘style’. He came and left town in secret and didn’t bother to call for help when he found her lying on the snow. So sad. What a selfish (pos) person he was. His life afterwards demonstrated what a cad he was.

My husband passed of cancer in 2015. Now our youngest son is battling cancer. I’ve dealt with a lot of loss in my life and I don’t want my love ❤️ ones stories to be forgotten. Some people I know may say your show is too morbid for me to watch ... but... I feel your show helps keep people’s stories to live on. Your shows give a voice to those who cannot speak. I don’t comment on all your videos but... I think they are amazing. Thank you for all your doing I will continue to watch. Ps This story is so sad 😭 . I hope it will one day be solved. Rest In Peace sweet Marion.

I think she pregnant, pregnancy would had disgraced her and family members, however, he was player, and l feel she committed suicide, after she told him. Their is a possibility, he went the gardener, and told him his problem, the garden was involved. Her will not in peace, she die of a tragic death and her will roam the earth forever. She needs prayers, for forgiveness for ever. However, this man, who promised her true fidelity went to hell.

If she had taken poison, wouldn't there be a jar or something right by her body? A person would not live long enough to calmly put something in the trash and then go into the woods to die. Poor Marion - it must have been a painful, horrible way to die.

If that were true, then my uncle's grave would be nothing but Oak Trees but it's two willow trees where he's burried and he drowned when my late grandmother insisted on going on a picnic where they were building an apartment building in the 60's. This I know because she used to try every year on the anniversary of his death to change MY name to Glenda Aileen Michelle

This is DEFINITELY a murder not suicide- here's why: The actions of this guy prior to coming back and meeting this woman are all actions of a man about to commit a crime - the making it look like he slept somewhere when he didn't, the sending of the letters by a friend for him etc. These are not actions of a man who is simply coming back to meet a woman, they are actions of a man that are intended to cover something up. There is no reason whatsoever this guy would have to do any of these things prior to meeting this woman if he were simply coming back to meet her and break up with her - no reason whatsoever to do any of these actions other than to alibi oneself and trying to throw people off his trail before he killed this woman who he believed needed to be gotten out of his life permanently. Not to mention the guy was going out with his chemistry teacher in college - maybe his chemistry teacher was also complicit in this murder!

Or he didn't want anyone to see him meeting with her. I understand the father following footprints in snow. But its too convient. No disturbance of a struggle or retreating or returning footprints? Its unclear if his footsteps left or how she fell. I kept in mind the chemist girlfriend. But it seemed like suicide. We forget how strong first love is as a teen . Toss in possible pregnancy at that time and dying seems preferable. Its just another mystery we can all ponder and never know the true story.

Or he got behind her, put a headlock on her with her head bent back. Then stuck a syringe (no needle) in her mouth and injected the poison. This can all go down in a fraction of a second. With a sudden attack and her head bent back she's likely to be talking, screaming or trying to, but she'll definitely ingest the poison. This is predicated on the poison being in solution and that it is fast acting. It would explain the strange chemical burn injuries.

If anything he it's questionable if she was pregnant but yup it could happen after a single fling that occured yes. I am uncertain for her "believing " she was pregnant and I do not believe in the early stages of pregnancy back then, Medical science was advanced enough to determine early pregnancies but if she was pregnant, in my opinion, he should of been charged in capitol punishment back then and conviçted of the charges of a double murder. I am not sure but I do not believe abortion laws were established back then so a double murder charge could of taken place in my opinion.

It's all too obvious on his part to escape the crime - he knew about chemical products from the teacher person he was dating - did anyone make inquiries in that direction???. Of course he murdered her. She wouldn’t have given up that easily. Beautiful young girls trust in their own power of persuasion. He gave her the bottle telling her it was something to drink, “have a little nip and calm your nerves”His behavior was very surreptitious. He was up to something.

It's a story as old as time itself. Young woman falls for the charms of a suave scumbag, believes all his lies, gets used and then discarded. He is brought to trial and as usual money and power gets him off scot free to go on his merry way while her family is left with pain and suffering. This type of thing is still happening today. What a tragedy.

Beautiful drone footage and music coming up to the beautiful angel. I love how the music builds up and there is so much uplifting scenery as you swoop in through the trees and over to the angel. Just thrilling how everything builds up and then you fade in which adds another element of suspense. 13:50 I wonder who the Mallon family was. Beautiful angel on their monument.

How sad. I think I heard this story before but it’s been a while. It’s one worth looking up. One thing I’ve come across in accounts of young women of this era who died by ingesting some caustic substance is usually mercury bichloride., or bichloride of mercury. It’s what Olive Thomas ingested somehow and died days later in 1920. It’s hard to say for sure now what the exact reason this stuff was doing in her hotel room; some accounts say the maids used it to clean the bathrooms, but a lot of others say it had been prescribed to her husband as a topical treatment for syphilus. When I looked up the stuff, I remember coming across a medical research paper from about 1913, and it said a lot of women were using it to end unwanted pregnancies, which also had destructive effects on their bodies. And people did use it to attempt suicide, and some succeeded. So the question then was how to restrict access to something so caustic. This girl here, poor kid, sounds like she died from the effects of something similar. It’s entirely possible she took her own life. In 1916, what options were there for her? And the social climate at the time was far less forgiving than it is now. Interesting that the ghost story associated with her death has accounts of her mouth showing the damage from what she ingested. People who described seeing Resurrection Mary sometimes describe her as having injuries similar to the injuries Mary Bregovy had, or wearing a dress like the one another of the girls who could be Resurrection Mary was wearing when she was killed, and then again, sometimes both! My family has a plot in a cemetery on a hillside that my 2nd Great grandfather was buried in first in 1906. Then my great grandfather assumed the interment rights to it just before his own death in 1945. But it wasn’t until my grandmother died in 2008 that we learned of a technical difficulty as no one had been buried in the family plot for decades. A tree had grown quite large and the roots snarled their way through two individual grave lots. I remember when I spoke with the manager of the cemetery afterwards, she seemed afraid I was going to just let her have it over the solution reached. What my grandfather and the cemetery decided to do was exchange the two individual grave lots for two in a section right beside our family plot. Probably she’s had families who have been upset for various reasons. But no. I thought that was really the most reasonable solution. If the demand was made that the tree be removed, that would disturb other occupied graves, and I, for one, won’t do that. I was glad I could reassure her of that! There’s something peaceful and lovely about trees in a cemetery. They’re like sentinels above ground who cradle the departed below. Maybe this one here is meant to cradle this poor girl, may she Rest In Peace 🌹

In some European countries it is a custom to plant a tree on some graves. I know of two people who requested doing that in the 1950s, but the small Southeastern Michigan town cemetery didn't allow it.

This is a tragic story on so many levels. In that era, being pregnant out of wedlock could spell disaster, especially for a woman. I think it's likely that Will murdered her -- his actions before coming to meet her were pretty suspicious, and he obviously didn't want an unplanned baby to complicate his life. And sadly, he had no intentions of marrying Marian, either, after leading her to think that he was in love with her, which is a pretty despicable thing for any man to do. I think that he was content to just play with her on the side until he found out that she was pregnant, and then he got scared. If he was the one that provided the poison, it's very likely that he got it from his chemistry teacher girlfriend -- he probably made up a story that he needed it to kill rats, or something like that, to justify needing it, and his girlfriend probably bought the story and got it for him. I think that, if he DID murder Marian, he most likely he somehow sedated her with chloroform because giving her the fatal dose of poison, because he obviously didn't want to risk anybody hearing the sounds of a struggle, and also risk taking the chance that Marian would try to bolt and run for help. And then, after she died, he probably carefully posed her body to make it look like she had killed herself. He was also probably wealthy enough to pay off anybody who tried to accuse him of murder. That's my best guess about this situation, anyway. Whether Marian died at Will's hand or took her own life, it's a tragic loss of a beautiful young woman who had just barely turned 18, and had her whole life ahead of her!
