the worldly build elaborate structures as if they intend to live forever. Abraham was a tent dweller...just passing through...this world is not my home.

Lydia was wealthy seller of purple. She insisted that Paul and his companion stay with her!

I strongly doubt the terraced houses were where the Christians in Ephesus met. They were huge homes, owned by the rich/elite of Ephesus. It's possible that one of them converted and made their home available, but highly unlikely. The homes they met in were likely further down the slope, and small and insignificant. I get why there's a desire to see a large open space as the meeting place because it means a larger group and large - success, but it a theory that has to ignore a lot of facts. Still, it is possible. Only God actually knows.

As was stated in the video, it is a mistake to assume that only poor people were Christians during that time. That simply wasn’t the case. The book of Acts records several individuals of status and wealth that chose to obey the gospel. As such, it is actually quite likely that those kinds of individuals would have places that would serve well as meeting places for these churches.

@@appianmediathis is exactly what I was thinking: Lydia, the seller of purple. Acts 11, I believe.

Also the entire book of James has a message about not dividing people in the church via class, social status or economic wellbeing.

Think about it. Christians use a pagan name for our Jewish Messiah. They ended the names with sus. Ephesus is one of many examples.

If Jesus’s name is “pagan” why do demons flee when I use His name for rebuke??? Demons can’t cast out demons!!!
