The "Grandma" is an absolute angel. Thank God for her.
@KCohere33Ай бұрын
Yeah, I see that she is more of an adopted grandmother than a real one. To have so much love to give to a stranger is a blessing. Her son and grandson were also great to welcome her into their home after her sorry excuses for parents threw her out.

Helen’s Dad: Give us 20,000. As payment for raising you for 18 years. YOU DON’T GET REWARDED FOR DOING THE BARE MINIMUM AS A PARENT
@JoshuaMaupinАй бұрын
They didn't even do the minimum - they never even fed the poor girl! Or bought her new clothes! I doubt they even spent $5k all 18 years.

One time for the people in the back, when they are grown a person DOES NOT have to pay their parents for raising them until they are 18. That is the choice you make when you have a child. And parents always prefer one sibling over the other, that is SO not true, there are many of us that love ALL of our children equally.
@defender4004Ай бұрын
I once read a study that says that almost all parents have a favourite child. It’s just that most parents try to hide this fact. Also there’s a difference between liking one child a tiny bit more than the other, also very much loved child/children, and loving one child while treating the other like crap as it is often the case in these stories.
@timothyhansen6581Ай бұрын
To an equal AMOUNT, maybe, but it's never QUITE equal. For example, my brother is 4 years younger than I am, & our sister is 4 years younger than him. I have four years of memories of living in an apartment in Chicago proper with my parents my brother will never have, because he was still a baby when we moved to Lansing, IL. Conversely, my parents have 3 years of memories where it was just me, then 9 months where it was just me but my mother was pregnant, then 3 more years where it was the 4 of us, then 9 months with my mom pregnant with my sister, & then it was the 5 of us until my parents got divorced 4 years after my sister was born. My parents never played favorites, but that doesn't mean there aren't inherent differences in how they treat the 3 of us, just because my sister is the only girl & because of the gap in ages.
@ArthurRex131Ай бұрын
@@timothyhansen6581 Treating you differently doesn't necessarily mean they love you any more or less than your siblings. THey treat you differently because you're a different person from your siblings.

Nana was just so awesome.. I absolutely loved her... Helen's self esteem & self worth was nonexistent due to her crappy family.. Nana took her in and gave her confidence, love & told her she is beautiful & worthy.. nana, ed and arnold are her real family.. it's not just blood that makes you family...

I really can't stand people who try to play the family card when they go out of their way to mistreat someone then when they feel the person can be of use, come begging and saying "we're family", so messed up.

Oh, I love this story. I am so happy that someone saw more than her birthmark. I can relate with the exception of the birthmark. I wasn't a pretty little girl, and my Mom did treat me differently from my brother. She loved him with all her heart. It wasn't until I grew up she changed somewhat. I was able to keep my appearance up, and I moved and bought my first house. Later in life, I married. So I am happy for her and wish her the best.

What horrible parents and brother. They are entitled and abusive as well as dismissive. Remember, how they destroyed and abandoned their daughter. Don’t be surprised, when she turns her back at all of you. Nana adopted you when you were 6, just a baby. She took care of you all those years and finally at 18, she decided to take care of you and give you the best life. What a wise and wonderful woman. To think you became real family. You have a wonderful husband. Wish both a happy life with many blessings and wonderful life. ♥️♥️🥰🥰🥰

The angel is Nana, she is truly a wonderful woman to take care of Helen. The other angel is Arnold and Edward who saw the real Helen and accepted her for who she is not for her mark on her body. She can't help with that. Helen is very lucky to have those people in her life. Thank god, that Nana found Helen when she was 6 yrs old. If it wasn't for her, who knows where Helen would be today. I hope Helen pay it forward to a child who is being treated bad by the parents. I know I would.

From experience growing up with an abused mother, her leaving was the BEST thing she ever did because had she not followed my Dad to California where he was being stationed in the Navy none of my siblings or I would have been born. She was the oldest of 9 and was pretty much servitude to the family. Relatives have grown up with their heads up their asses and entitled and still don't feel my Mom is worth her salt. Losing her 8 years ago was and still is the one of the darkest moments of my life because it was there I cut ties to majority of those relatives. So while this is fiction this DOES happen. Get out. Stay out. Live for yourself. It will be hard at first but you WILL overcome because if you survived the mistreatment, you can survive anything!

I've never heard about "vascular malformations" until now, but a quick Google search shows that it IS treatable - even curable, in some cases. So, the fact that Helen's parents went the ostracize & belittle route instead - while probably far cheaper - just shows how bad they were as parents. But also, I have to wonder how she could essentially be bleeding into her own chin & neck since practically the day she was born & still be essentially fine physically otherwise.
@absolutelyridiculous6743Ай бұрын
It looks like it depends on the type and location. Some malformations are disfiguring over time, but others don't seem to cause any such issues other than not being attractive.

Most people choose to be parents (unless you marry someone who has a child already. You may to care for them but you had no say in their existence). Your choice your responsibity. Your child owes nothing to you for raising them.
