I think it would be okay to turn on two coils, monitor with a UV Temp gun (don’t let it get over 130F), and quickly set two items down just to prove they had the technology. I’m sure the overheating is a problem with 3 coils on, charging devices, for a long period of time. And even then the overheating will not actually physically damage any components until it’s been done for multiple uses over multiple uses.

I assume they had the idea of not needing to line up your charger to get the coils perfectly lined up, realized it was harder than they thought, then they went with the cheap and cheerful solution of magnets

I just watched it wow and amazing. If you do ever get another or try that one. Maybe you could get a very big cooling system to stop it from heating up like cooling liquids or fans. Those better cooling devices I would think stop the device from heating up. I am a not huge tech person in that stuff, but is an idea since many tech creators have shown off very good cooling systems. This video just minds blown me away on how KZbinrs and creators can come together to amazing things. Maybe you could pick up the other failed Apple Devices from the past if not done already since you guys figured out this. Have a better day anyone reading this.

Good call on preserving the wireless charger. I would be worried also about heat. I had a wireless charger stop working because I would always leave it plugged in not using it at all

Couldn’t they create a frame that had a heat sink coil underneath? I feel that Apple design sensibilities might have prevented making it a little thicker.

Interesting enough the animations are still in the public iOS 11 firmware files and are on the phones still running iOS 11. People have gotten them to trigger via jailbreak mods wonder if he could do the same

I'm 1 year late to the party but the animations are not actually in the files **by default**. The animations are downloaded to the device when the charging view app is called. This charging view app was included from iOS 11.0 up to iOS 11.2. There are references and even testing apps for it in iOS 11, 12 and 13 but I never really had much getting the test apps for it to actually work on production/stock/public builds of iOS. (I'm also too scared to dual-boot an internal version because I'm scared of bricking my iPhone X on stock iOS by accident)

@@theshuttel coming back to the table with this: I did some more tinkering and it turns out my iPhone X on iOS 11.2.2 can use the ChargingViewService when I bring it in from an earlier version of iOS 11. It doesn't work as it should because A) I don't have AirPower B) The animations are no longer available for download (Probably because Apple deleted assets and IPSW files for iOS 11.0 thru 11.2.6) so the iPhone just freezes until the animation should've been done. If someone had tinkered with this closer to launch, we might've had those animations preserved by now.

The technology or principle of AirPower has been around for quite a while. See, for example, the Siemens BSH FreeInduction Plus technology for induction hobs. Yes, you read that right, I am referring to an induction hob because the technology behind it is the same. The only problem is that the energy is converted into heat and is not induced again as electricity - the problem with AirPower was just the high heat development, which was no wonder with several overlapping coils that interact for physical reasons. With its patented technology, Siemens has managed to exploit this interaction by generating a dynamic magnetic field from several coils that can be moved as desired and can be generated several times. With such an induction hob, several cookware can be used at the same time and even moved. The technology in AirPower is essentially the precursor to this technology, and is therefore not an innovation. The same technology used at Siemens can also be used in a smaller format as a QI-capable charging station. However, someone has to take the right step now.

I also thought of an idea. You could maybe setup a shutdown command if gets too hot. I use a mobile device that has cooling liquid in it, an emergency shutdown system to prevent any damage if gets too hot, and a fan. The device uses a lot of power but since all these things work together maybe it could be a good idea on device like that. Wonder why Apple never thought of that if it ever got too hot since I would think it would solve a lot of these main heating issues in thinking of this. Hope it works out if you do try some of these ideas. Still just amazed lol.

It was overheating because if one coild is powered next to another, the not used coil's capacitor will need to disapeat the inducated heat. If you write a command to turn on a row, then if one is detected a device, the cpu should turn all the coils around to find out which one draws the most power, then keep that one on, others off. But meantime the others will heat up. So coil on coil is abad concept.
