Thank You for this video! i am doing my best to get the most out of carplay. Is there any way to turn off the feature in maps tries to guess where i am going every time i connect to apple car play? I would just like it to show the current map of where i am. each time i connect i then have to touch the screen to cancel out the suggestion and then go back to the multiview home screen home screen thanks again.

Hey Chris - great video. In CarPlay, if I have an appointment in my Calendar that has an address, if I bring up my Calendar in CP and hit the address, will it open Maps to do an automatic routing?

In my Toyota, Messages are read so quietly that at any speed, I can’t hear it. Can’t find any way (phone, CarPlay, or car audio settings) to increase that volume. Map directions are nice and loud; only Messages. Any suggestions?

I'm really annoyed that Tesla so far refuses to offer Carplay. To see that they are implementing Airplay is a confirmation to me that they're not planning to implement Carplay in the near future. Huge bummer

The parked car feature is not exclusive to carplay. When ever you disconnect from a car’s bluetooth it does that.

The biggest issue with carplay is that when you get a call during navigation, it flips to the call screen and then you have to come back to the navigation app. It is even more annoying if yo dont have a touchscreen so you have toogle back every time. Is there a solution for this?

Been using carplay for years... Still waiting for the most basic settings toggle/switch/option... SET DEFAULT MUSIC APP. I use Spotify, but almost every time I get in the car, the same song (out of four song i own i Apple Music) starts.

Regarding downloaded Maps under CarPlay, or just using downloaded maps, I’ve discovered a major shortcoming. The reason for downloading a map is to be able to navigate when you’re out of cellular range and in a different country. We used downloaded maps within CarPlay or just on my iPhone in a recent holiday in Spain and discovered you can’t search for anything within a downloaded map unless there is internet access, either cellular or wifi. This makes downloaded Apple Maps useless and very disappointing. Am I missing something.

Apple should really really fix how you select things you search. They give a list and numbers on the map, but you don’t know which is which. And you can’t tap the location in the effing map!

I really don’t like that it locks your phone and you can’t change music with it. I drive an older car and I find it more difficult to touch the CarPlay screen. I know the whole point of this is to keep you off your phone but your phone and the screen in the middle are the exact same thing. I find it easier to keep my eyes on the road using my phone. CarPlay makes me lean towards the middle, have a hard time reading the options while my view is mainly my dashboard and It makes me feel like a fighter pilot tying to hit a small button at a distance. CarPlay isn’t for me, I wish those touchscreens came with Bluetooth because one thing they’re actually good at is displaying a map and staying in one place

I've given ApplePlay so many chances, but I still find myself not using it 90% of the time. Here's why: 1. It saps a TON of battery! With it plugged in, after arriving at my destination, the battery level is much lower than when I started. 2. It interferes with the FM radio (at least in my vehicle). I would assume that the FM radio is completely separate, but somehow, when I'm not even using CarPlay whatsoever, it hijacks audio from the radio. 3.. Shazam doesn't work, either with FM radio or with music from streaming apps. In order to Shazam a song, I need to completely unplug CarPlay. 4. Facetime doesn't function properly. I can understand for safety reasons not watching video while driving, however, CarPlay has it OPPOSITE. The video of the person you are chatting with still shows, however, the other person cannot see you! Isn't this backwards? For these reasons, I mostly just stick with bluetooth to connect my phone to the car.

Apple Music sound quality is better than Spotify. If you have a good audio system, it’s impossible not to notice the difference. Spotify has been promising a higher-fidelity version for years but they never follow through.
