Nah, they’ll charge $1200 for it by making you have to buy the 2026 model to get that. They claimed this time there wasn’t room anywhere else, even though there’s like 20 PCs this size or smaller that have power buttons on the back. Next year they’ll “magically re-engineer” the internals so it’s now possible to put the button on the back. And they’ll spend 8 minutes patting themselves on the back for this unimaginable accomplishment in the announcement propaganda video

Exactly. When I was 16, I remember that solid state storage was just about to pass the 1$/1GB mark. Now we get good 1TB SSDs for 80$. In my view, we really need regulations that forbid soldered RAM, storage and CPU parts. Even at phones you should be able to clamp down CPUs, maybe build them with sideways connectors. In gaming laptops, we achieved desktop CPUs and GPUs (removing the cooler, obviously). Nobody can tell me that our world wouldn't be able to build small chip sockets. This would be the best way to reduce E-waste significantly. Phone companies would have to focus more on chips and stuff and Apple could still sell overpriced chips. Apple like to say that the M4 Mac Mini is a gaming computer. The problem is that most of the latest AAA games use more than 100 Gb of SSD storage on PCs and consoles. This means that it may only be possible to install one game on a base level 256 GB M4 Mac Mini. Fortunately for a mere $50 or so it is possible to buy an external 1 Tb thunderbolt SSD, which would be the cost to Apple of upgrading the internal SSD to 1 Tb. I would like to see people install AAA games on a 1 Tb Thunderbolt SSD to convince me that this is possible.

There's nothing wrong with only offering 256GB of storage on the base model. That's more than enough for most casual computer users. The problem is the OUTRAGEOUS prices they charge for storage and RAM upgrades. Going from 256GB to 512GB of storage should cost between $30 to $50. Going to 24GB of RAM should cost about $40 to $60. There's plenty of profit for Apple charging these reasonable prices for upgrades, but their greed is insatiable. The 32GB/2TB version is $1,800 - the cost of THREE base models! 16GB of DDR5 RAM costs $60 and a 2TB SSD cost $140. Together they cost $200. If Apple double charged for the upgrades they'd still make bank, but that's not enough for them. The 32GB/2TB model should be $1,000 at absolute MAX. And forcing people to pay an extra $800 for the M4 Pro just to go beyond the 32GB/2TB version is criminal as well. Remember the 80's and 90's and 2000's, when Apple made affordable, upgradeable, and repairable computers? This company is absolute trash now.

You know, the more I see from Apple, the more I realise how truly awful I am at user interface design. As a very computer-fluent programmer, I would put the power switch on the front of the machine, or at least one of the sides or back, or maybe even on the top. But I would never think to put it on the bottom, and I still cannot even start wrap my head around how that is the most user-friendly place for it to be, especially for people who don't know much about computers. That's why I don't like using Apple products: they're just a constant reminder of how I know nothing about design or usability, and how I am so incapable for me the most user-friendly systems in the world harder to use than Linux.

While programmers are terrible user interface designers, the experts in user interface design make things even worse. Programmers care about utility instead of appearance. But UI designers care about appearance over absolutely everything else.

@@Andrew-tl9gk This is generally true of PCs as well. However, you still need to turn the thing on once in a while. e.g. for the first time, after moving it, after power outage. Genius Apple logic. You should also make a vid where Apple explains why it's such a good idea to have drive cache ram instead of actual ram and why is it good to put strain on the ssd instead of installing actual physical memory, like windows/linux machines do. In short, why 8 GB of ram on a mac is "better" than 16 GB on windows/linux. Cuz watching your video helped me remember an argument i had with a friend that went like: "Nah mate, Apple is better. Their 8 gigs of ram counts as 16 gigs in windows rams" And i'm like: "Yea sure, that's probably because they reserve the remaining ram requirement as a cache from the OS drive" to which he replied nothing because he probably didn't knew that ssd's have a limited number of byte writes and placing extra unnecessary strain on them just shortens their life spans. TLDR: any Apple product is designed to be replaced as a necessity in the shortest amount of time possible.
