I think I would cook up the apples with a little brown sugar and butter first,before adding to batter! I would also use buttermilk instead of reg. Milk.

Why would you put the baking powder and cinnamon in the same bowl if they need to be kept separate, especially as it then requires you to pick out the cinnamon in order to not get any of the powder in it??

I have never tried it that way. That sounds like a good idea though. I'm not sure if it would get the same rise but it sounds like it would give it flavor.

That is not dark drown sugar, it is soft light brown sugar.
