I had a mother in law like this. She demanded my/our bankbook while husband was working. I told her no. I ended up divorced 6 months later. Best thing to ever happen to me!

I would have broken up with my fiancee as soon as his mother demanded that I show her my financial information. That mil is a vile woman who would make her dil's life hell. The fact that the fiancee is supporting his mother is a red flag.

Melissa still hoping to get married after the incident of Mrs. Miller asking to see her finances is a very big mistake in itself. And her fiancé justifying his mother's actions is in itself a massive red flag, which nobody could overlook.
@mariterrones37164 ай бұрын
Instead of just listening her fiancee he ran to to his mother to complain and act negatively about his fiancee. And his mother is literally the gold digger in this relationship while her son is either a coconspirator, mommy's boy or someone who don't have good listening skills or just don't care.

If you are that concerned about marrying a gold digger, then just bring up the idea of a prenuptial agreement. Most gold diggers will run for the hills or immediately start gaslighting you.

Why does the bride need to show her financials to his mother? Isn't it the man's job to take care of his wife, not the other way around. Favors? She's paid for your hair and your food, i think she's done done enough.
@Ronin.Samurai4 ай бұрын
It’s not the man’s job to take care of the wife, both of them are required to take care of each other. I make more than my husband, and yes, I’m the wife. I take care of him. He may make less than me, but he still takes care of me. Everything we do together, dates, shopping, gas for car, fun, etc., we pay 50/50. We both do chores equally, clean up after our cats, feed and water them, and change the litter box equally, and so on. It’s a two way street, not a one way street.

Listening and nervous. I'd be done at 43:56 it is enough. Jmo it is none of her business at all. Since she is digging so much, I wouldn't trust her to not go after her for more funds. I would never show in-laws that info or even discuss it. With how the fiance is acting, I am not liking how sneaky he seems to be. If I was him, I wouldn't listen to her bad-mouthing my gf. Momma’s boy. 50:49, he is so rude to her. The engagement party shouldn’t go on. Omgosh the families meeting Oh gosh she is putting Melissa down to her parents oh my God 😮😮😮😮😮

Last story. I mean part of me understands wanting to know the financial situation you're marrying into, at least concerning debts, but the MiL asking to see all somebodies bank statements is just a bit too far, however it kind of feels the MiL inadvertently did her a favor by being so insistent because it revealed how money-obsessed that family was, he /did/ seem like a gold digger in the end. I think it's the height of foolishness to be making good money and yet /not/ saving anything because you think you're marrying into a wealthy family, that's just stupid and self-centered. Goes to show even people with a good income can still be gold diggers. Like she said if anybody had the right to ask it would've been her future husband, and she'd have the rights to see his, nobody else has any business demanding to see it.

I'm sorry but I just can't get past today's married couples not using their money with/on each other. I'm all for having your own money. My husband and I, and most people in my generation, have a main bank account where paychecks are deposited. Then we have a savings account and each have our own checking accounts for our "mad money" as Grandma used to call it. But to be completely independently financial just leaves an unpleasant taste in my mouth. So many of these characters are so worried that one spouse may have to take care of another if that spouse gets sick. Is nothing joint anymore? In some cases it makes sense to keep finances completely separate, of course. But at some point there has to be a joining of...something doesn't there? In this case, why get married? Does two people marrying and becoming one not mean anything anymore?
@KheldarLars4 ай бұрын
I have a separate account because I'm bad with money XD

For an alleged laywer the protagonist sure has a poor way with words, and it makes the video kinda cringe. I mean... 37:30 where the antagonist says it's all about the money. Yet she's the one whining about bank statements, surely that would be a no brainer for a lawyer to shut that down immediately and expose her? But no, it goes on, and on, and on.... it's what I kinda dislike about the format of these videos: the protagonist gets harassed for most of the video and the fallout is minimal at best. Which makes this a very unsatisfying experience for me.

Girl Nick's mom is not as warm and inviting as Nick's painted her to be. She runs a restaurant but is greedy. How much you have in the bank is none of anyone's business but yours, otherwise you fall prey to any number of scams. Then expecting you to pay for everything is just wrong. What horse crap, he'll never share his bank balances with you.. those two are the golddiggers.
