This rustic looking Apple Gingerbread Cake is the perfect Fall and Winter Dessert. It is a moist yogurt cake with a spicy sweet flavor that is topped with caramelized slices of apple. After baking the top of the cake is brushed with apricot preserves which gives it a nice shine, adds flavor, and prevents the apples from drying out. You can serve this cake warm from the oven, at room temperature, or cold. Softly whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream is the perfect accompaniment.

Hi Stephanie I baked this cake yesterday. I didn't have a culinary torch, and I've ordered one today. Since I use a microwave oven, broiler option naturally wasn't possible. Short of that I followed every step in your recipe. The cake looked beautiful. It got good appreciation from my friend for who's wedding anniversary it was baked!

Wow the title caught my eye. If my dad was alive this would absolutely be his favorite. Growing up i made my dad Gingerbread cookies the full on Gingerbread men every year, he absolutely loved them. Not everybody likes Gingerbread but my dad loved it.

I love making apple cakes in Autumn and Winter. And, I love that you have so many yogurt cakes. I'm lactose intolerant but I can eat yogurt, but milk is a no go for me and so many cakes and breads call for milk and I never have milk at home and if I get it for a recipe the leftover goes to waste. But with yogurt I can make your granola recipe and eat that for breakfast!

Just made it…DELICIOUS! The cake is so moist and tender. I used walnuts and golden syrup with vanilla as the topping because that’s what I had on hand. I did put it under the broiler for about 3 minutes. I’m making this again for Thanksgiving! And I think it will be a fantastic breakfast cake tomorrow too
