I like how the MIL channeled her inner Cruella DeVile for a moment there, "Ashley Darling". lol :)

Those women are suffering under the delusion that housewives don’t do any housework and spend their husbands’ money like it will last forever.

Really? At some point in the story Heath expressed regret that even though he knew Maggie was mistreating her, he was hesitant to speak to his mother.

I was never sick with either of my pregnancy’s. My best friend threw up from the moment she got pregnant to the day she gave birth. Every woman is different. And dump water on my head and you will get slapped into next week

The only reason I'm a housewife now is because my husband and youngest son are disabled (different things). I'm their full-time carer. Even with that, I still write, and hope to self publish in the next few years.

I didn't really have morning sickness either, but Ashley's right that every woman and pregnancy is different. Maggie can sit sideways on a cactus.

You had it easy. However, I couldn't even eat food or even stand the smell of food. So, I was miserable during my two pregnancies

I wasn’t sick a day with my first child. It was a breeze compared to what some women go through. When I got pregnant with my second child, I was sick as a dog from day one! I developed gestational diabetes, couldn’t keep anything down for six months, and actually weighed less on the day I delivered than when I conceived. Both sons were healthy as could be despite all the differences in the pregnancies. So, every pregnancy is different!

Theres a misconception that being a housewife is easy because you dont have to work. Try doing chores, caring for your husband and kids for 24/7 and see if its still easy doing that for the next 3 -5 decades of your life. Being a housewife is only easy when you have servants at your behest. But if you can't pay for help then you're on your own. Which is why stories of DILS being turned into maids exist.

All pregnancies are different. My 1st was a breeze. With my 2nd I had morning sickness for the entire 9 months.

There is no reason when your son gets married that your and daughter-in-law should become your personal maid. Stick to doing what you were doing before your son had a wife. It’s not her job to take care of you clean your house or anything like that. You had no right to torment your daughter-in-law like that Throwing ice water on her head because she was going to her brothers wedding. That was just totally uncalled for. I have the OP was actually the one supporting that switch and her husband because he lost a job and then this mother-in-law turns out to be a cheating sack of crap, unbelievable she had the nerve to be little and verbally abuse her daughter-in-law when she was the cheating sack of crap. I’m glad the OP and her husband decided to move away.

I really do not understand women who want to be housewives. My wife (of 38 years) has always worked. We both make about the same amount of money. Both of us working not only helped us when I lost my job at one time and when she wanted to change careers, but also has set us up for a much better retirement than a single income could have ever done.

Some people were brought up to think women are only here to breed and clean. I've worked and stayed a home. My back won't allow me to work a job but I can still keep the house looking good

I did both. I worked for a while, but found I wanted to be home eith my girls. Went back to earning money, after they started school. I was so lucky, I got to see all the firsts. Those memories are so precious to me.

No wonder her (Maggie) MIL hated her and treated her like shit. She was a cheating gold digger taking advantage of her son. She was trying to chase out the trash without her son getting hurt with the truth. Too bad it didn’t work as the gold digger was too stubborn to quit and run off like a normal blank would.
