If i want something in particular to eat..... i go into the kitchen and cook it. I do sometimes ask my mum is there anything you fancy, anything specific, else we come up with a weeks menu on a Sunday for the week ahead. That way we don't have to spend time thinking daily what to cook.

Same here! My mom has always done up the menu a week ahead of time as well. When we were kids, she would ask each of us what we wanted and one day a week we were be able to choose what to eat as a family. I love most everything she makes, even to this day.

She is having an affair! She is way too defensive. His MIL IS VERY INTRUSIVE. The mother doesn’t do anything. OP TIME GOR YOU TO RETHINK YOUR MARRIAGE. You work, you clean house and on weekends, you clean cook and take care of the kids. You are a single father! You might as well make it legal, divorce and take custody of your children. She’ll have to really work and now pay child support. OP you will be happy with kids and calmer. Wish you the best. You deserve it.

This may be a surprise, but everyone does things differently... Many people don't plan meals ahead of time as they decide what to have based on what they are in the mood for. Some prefer going to the store and deciding what to get while they are wandering around.

And this is why you need lawyers when you divorce. He can't withhold the children from her and custody arrangements must be made. If the courts think she is a danger to them, then that's a different matter. He's just doing this to punish her, which is not right.
