Thats the thing. More than on a phone, updates are critical on tablets. So ipad is the way to go until Xiaomi improves both the launcher (which is aweful) and updates.

Reason i go for ipad because even though its pricey compare to android tablets you can’t deny how long you can use their device in the long run, i called it as good investment. Just imagine how many older version of ipad tablets sold still in the market compare to android tablet. Im using ipad 6 2018 128gb in ios 13 more than 3 yrs old tablet yet my tablet still rocking, can still par with ipads 7,8 or 9 and even to same tier android tablet.

Why do you need that much storage if they will not update their software of the tablet? I had my Mi Pad 4 dead on arrival, last update was March 2019. I bought it in August 2019. Meanwhile Apple has software updates for 5 years, which is crazy.

If you ask, why don't you choose a larger storage for ipad? Then here is other reason the price. The 256 variant of xiaomi pad is 430$ while ipad is 855$ and both already has cellular and smart pen specially here in my country. I don't really care about that updates 2-3yrs will gone. Now I will choose base on the price and not anymore for the storage.

I got my Xiaomi Pad 5 about 10 days. I only use it view KZbin, movies & listening to music. Good since it has 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos & Hi-Res Audio.

Nope. 2/3 years at most. But then again, budget tablets you can replace easily for a low price. Software updates shouldn't be as important as hardware is. If you're investing in an iPad pro(or an android equivalent like the s7+) the software support should be important but for cheaper devices, I'd rather sell the old tablet and get a new one.

Mi pad is fragrant only when NEW. BEEN THERE. I had Redmi Note 3G, MiPad 1 and now, my K30.. rarely gets OTA OS updates. Ipad 9 wins in terms of overall "tablet" experience / Apps optimization and LONGEVITY. Just wait till MiPad 6 arrives and see how your MiPad 5s slowly gets uggh! Forgotten

The software support is the deciding factor for me. Apple you're usually getting about 5 years of support. Android you tend to roll the device although that is changing with a few companies lately announcing multi year support

Even the old iPad 7th gen beats the mi pad 5 when it comes to gaming. One example is Diablo immortal. I was looking forward to scoring the mi pad 5 but the optimization problem with android seems to be still there even with 120hz and huge ram. For multimedia purpose mi pad 5 all the way.

Hardware-wise, the Mi Pad would probably win but Software with Apple's 6 years promised OS updates, it would leave the Mi Pad back in time. The previous Mi Pad 3 didn't even see a single OS update so hopefully they (Xiaomi) would do better on that department. Same price but one lasts as long as 6 years or more vs. the other one's 1 to 2 years of usage, up to you which is a better buy.

What a great review, for me the 3.5mm jack makes it a winner, much more durable in the real world, usb are too bendy and weedy for proper use when travelling etc. I am getting the ipad even though I am not an apple fanboy because even though the xiaomi is better, I want the backup, os updates and stability of apple.

Small advice from somenone who had the Xiaomi Pad 5: don’t buy it - I don’t know if the unit I bought on eBay was faulty (I hope so), but it was so laggy and littered with so many glitches and bugs (starting from the screen-rotating function not working properly) I had to return it after only a week. I replaced it with an iPad 10, and that or even the iPad 9 will be much better in the long run.

On paper, the Mi Pad is incredible. But in my time as a tech enthusiast, I've grown out of judging devices based on specs. Software is really the core of the user experience. Also, I don't think I'll ever buy a Xiaomi device that I'm forced to use MIUI on. I got a Xiaomi Mi 9T but I'm running LineageOS on it. Three of my friends who had Xiaomi phones running MIUI got their phones bricked because of Xiaomi's fucked up updates. In the case of the Mi Pad 5, I don't think custom ROMs are an option unless you want to lose a lot of features that make a tablet a tablet.

iPadOS 13 was the last good iPadOS version. 14 was a HUGE disappointment and 15 was rock solid in the beta stage but is now so buggy. Trying to move widgets crashes the tablet and I have to sign in again. And biometric authentication is disabled until I enter my PIN again; is this 2014 or something!?

Same sweeeeeet spot not spending too much and its my choice , hope it will last over 3-4 years. Tho if the p11 pro price right now is around 260$ , and the ipad 9 is 400$ if you want 5 years or more just go ipad9th gen , but its sill depend what budget you have

I have a Pad 5 Pro 5G model purchased in China. Of course with the CN ROM with English. Does anyone know when Xiaomi will start to treat customers seriously and allow me to set the Polish language? Not to mention the EU version, which should be available just like the competition does. I honestly spent almost PLN 2,800 and I'm really furious that this is how it looks like. This is probably my last purchase from this company. I do not know how it is possible that the basic version has Global only because it was released in the world and the 5G version was already a problem to upload Polish? PARANOIA! In other forums, customers complain about this very much. Is there any ROM with my native Polish language? Or maybe some Custom ROM? Please help.

Was planning to buy the iPad Air 4th Gen over the Mi Pad 5, which would you recommend? I'm just gonna play Genshin in the tablet, since i'm used to doing research on my phone.

playing genshin impact on my SND865 poco f2 in 60fps heats up and thermal throttles quickly in medium quality. I have to set it to low to have smooth 60fps. Now, if the MiPad can handle Genshin on a much bigger screen compared to mine without throttling, ur other considerations are just software support and if u benefit from the Apple Ecosystem. What I can guarantee tho, is that the A14 can easily run Genshin at 60fps medium with no issue

Ipad has always been my go to for digital arts, documents and other work related stuffs apart from having a laptop, but on phone? i prefer android which is for me 10x better in many ways.
