Apple iPad Air 4th Gen Smart Folio Cover - Unboxing & Review | Back Protection + New Colors!

The smart folio line isn't anything new, Apple has released smart folios in the past. On cheaper models like the iPad 8th Gen, Apple has historically offered a smart cover, which is great and all, but offers no back protection... a common complaint. Well, for the all new iPad Air 4th gen, we now get back protection as well as some awesome new seasonal colors. These are some of my favorite iPad accessories but at $79, is a tough pill to swallow. Their case qualities are beautiful! I never bought apple cases, but after using the official silicone case for the iPhone 12, I’m in awe! The case is sturdy, and hasn’t had single decolorisation problems, unlike most of the cheap Walmart cases I’ve paid for

I have this case in Deep Navy and the edges are too sharp. Like not going to cut you sharp but uncomfortable to hold for daily use.

Bit my lip and paid a lot for my old Apple iPad case, but glad I did. It was a very refined product when compared to a cheaper model which looked very similar. Will take another chance on this one given my previous experience. I appreciate that this video gives a good idea of the refined design.

My iPad 6th gen Smart Cover and iPad Pro 11 1st gen Smart Keyboard are aging perfectly Just keep them away from oils and they’ll be just fine

There doesn’t seem to be any 3rd party option for the iPad Air folio. I can only find cases that encompass the entire device, with cut-outs for the buttons, speakers etc. Some Of them look okay but not as sleek as the official Apple folio. Just bought an iPad Air 4 so it’s got to have a stupid expensive Apple folio on it. Not much choice out there currently.

Nope. I LOVE those original Smart Covers and have had them on all of my IPads from the very beginning. If I’m putting my Tablet in a bag I just throw it in a nice inexpensive sleeve and it’s fine. When I use it, I just love the feel of the actual premium device instead of just a case - and in all these years the back of my IPads have remained in great shape even though they have been “unprotected “. (I did buy a couple of those official Apple Cases years back but still always preferred the feel of The Smart Cover instead.) To me - iPads are just not the same without them! And besides- $79 for that is - as usual for Apple - RIDICULOUS LOL!

They're not as durable, Apples official cases and covers are so expensive but they literally last years... If I spend $700 on an iPad I want the cover to also last long as hell. Why cheap out when you've already spent hundreds?

@@nathanmasters7952 while I’m not sure if this compares, but I bought a genuine Apple silicon case for my Xs Max and it lasted for only 6 months.. (I’m very careful with my phone and I never dropped it or anything) I’m glad it was eligible for a warranty replacement, but I’d rather get a non genuine for $15 if the genuine can’t even last as long as the price.

Well since both the 2020 10.9” iPad Air 4 and 2018 11” iPad Pro basically have the same dimensions as far as height, and width goes, besides being 1 millimeter of screen restate away from each other and since both cameras are about the same, then the answer to your question is yes it does. If you pick up the iPad by the smart folio the iPad falls out. The folio does not attach to the iPad.

Yeah, but they’re not really designed to be drop protective. They’re more for users who are worried about scratches on the screen and camera and not concerned with drops. Of course 80 dollars is way overpriced, but it’s a different demographic of consumer

OMG yes they are way too expensive, NOT WORTH IT. Wish I'd watched your video before I bought mine. The edges were sharp and the material separating the front and back cover wouldn't have really lasted more then a few months. Apple should really be embarrassed to sell them at this price. These aren't worth more then $10 Mine was promptly returned!!!!!!

The narrator in this video is definitely enthused by this product. I also love Apple products. However, I cannot justify paying $86 (the price with tax), for something you can find on Amazon, of the same quality or better, for a much more reasonable price, that also includes a holder for the Apple pencil. For the life of me, I can’t understand why Apple can charge $86 dollars for a cover that doesn’t even include a secure place for the Apple pencil. I would encourage all of you to check out the cases by the brand “Fintie”. They include beautiful designs, great protection (which includes a clear back to show off the beautiful Apple logo), and a secure place for the Apple pencil so you’ll never lose it, and also to keep it always charged. Also, I always wonder why all the narrators on these videos, use the same robotic intonations in their voices? Maybe it’s because they think it’s “cooler & techier”? But in reality, it just comes off as robotic and kind of pathetic. This narrator “The Juan & Only” (I highly doubt he’s all that “unique” 🤖😁🤖), is no exception.

@@yq7760 yea unfortunately it is also sideless. Actually there is one magnetic flap that goes over where the Apple Pencil can connect. But it doesn’t go along the full side of the iPad

So disappointing, i dont get it. The point of ipad *AIR* is being light. With this cover you had 50% weight. Who needs protection for the back anyway? Oh your back doesnt have scratches and looks nice and shiny? Guess what? No one care because NO ONE CAN SEE IT IN THIS COVER. I want the display protected when travelling so it looks nice when im using it... I wanted to get ipad Air 4 for christmas this year and was looking forward to it whole time. Now this is a reason not to upgrade. Twice as thick and twice as heavy as the smart cover for protecting the back... I seriously dont get it.
