I pay for the full Adobe Suite and I loved Premiere years ago but I can't justify using it anymore because of the performance issues. I've switched over to Resolve since it works on both the M1 Air and My Desktop Windows machine. The fact that I can edit 4k-6k footage while sitting on the couch or in the middle of no where while on battery is what impressed me about the M1. I've been able to do photoshoots tethered in the mountains with the M1 and not worry about battery. Even bought a couple Anker battery packs just incase but haven't had to use them even during some 6-8hr shoots.

hey hey...any updates for Jan 2023? I read that Premiere still has issues on the new mac computers. I need an editing machine and my budget is limited. I could get a Mac Mini M1 with 16GB ram and 521SSD for a good price, but I wish I could afford a M2pro or a studio! for a lot more... I use Premiere pro. I intend to edit 4k30 and sometimes 4k60-one or two layers coming from a Sony FX30 in XAVC S at 200Mbps max or less...1080p 30/60 too. My projects range from 5min to 90 min max. No heavy grading at all..some lumetri colour. Am I delusional thinking that this Mac Mini M1 can edit this and export it in a reasonable time? I don't need it to be superfast for export but I care more about the editing experience. Has Premiere finally been optimized for the M1 chips? I just can't edit with FCPX...too old to re-learn! If someone could give me an honest and brutal opinion based on first hand experience I would appreciate it very much. Thanks

You have just a free version of davinci so on Windows you export just using internal graphic. If you get the studio version, the gpu 3070 will make better performance

I wonder with the new MacBooks coming up if Premier will be even faster. FINAL CUT PRO is so fast though. Only think i get extremely frustrated with FCPX is not having easy in and out for scale, position and rotation. DRIVES ME NUTS!!!

You can use Final Cut XML from the Premiere Pro export but I'm not sure that time remapping carries across.

Thanks for this great video. I'm seriously done with trash, Premier Pro! Color issue is insane when exporting the video on M1 Mac. Used gamma compensation LUT, doesn't help much. Rendering is still slow, not satisfying speed, I finally decided to switch to Final Cut Pro after I saw your video. Thanks!!

The only reason I use premier pro is because you can easily find tutorials for anything you want to do where as davinci and final cut not so much. Last night I had aftereffects and premier running editing 4K xt4 footage and I had no lag. I have a air m1 with 8/8. If I did that with the zen book I guarantee that laptop would sound like a jet engine

I agree with you on that. We have to spend more time learning DaVinci, and most creators don’t have that time. Even though I love DaVinci, sometimes I find myself using Premiere just because it will be faster for me to edit. I guess it won’t happen overnight, and we’ll see more creators using DaVinci, because it’s a great software powered with amazing features (better than Premiere in some cases). But we’ll see. And ZenBook really sound like a jet engine, that’s true😂

@@ThatsGameSports I think it depends greatly on the type of videos you throw at it. So far it handles all my fujifilm xt4 footage in h265 with no issues with color grading etc..

Hey Arthur, i noticed the Premiere workspace, it looks very cool. How did you put the import/export and editing buttons next to the home icon, and also all the icons that are on the upper right side. The customizations in premiere are very mechanical, and honestly I've never even gotten into it but this one I see is very clean and cool. thanks in advance

I think it will arrive soon, but not fully optimized for the M1 yet. We’ll probably see small improvements, and over time we’ll meet a fully optimized version. But who knows, it might happen faster, just my thoughts🙃

Quick question for everyone. I just bought the 14 inch M1 Pro and when I went to download Premiere it prompted me to download Rosetta first. Does this mean that I am not running the native version of premiere, do I need to use the beta version for it to be native, how can you tell which version is the native version.
