I have a regular Macintosh SE with a 1.44mb floppy drive instead of a 800k floppy drive but it can only read 800k disks. I am wondering if it is a hardware incompatibility or the floppy drive is just broken.

Hi Jason, I notice you don't mention discharging the CRT before removing any of the components inside. I have heard this is important so you don't get a lethal shock or is this only if you are removing the CRT and power supply?

From my understanding this Se model used 1.44 floppies VS the 800k. Using the 1.44 format can it also write / read 800k disc? Looking to purchase a vintage mac like the Plus, Classic or SE. Not sure which one is most user friendly in the modern world. Especially with files transfers.

So would I be able to download Mac software from a website on my Windows machine, copy it to floppy, and pop it right into a SuperDrive SE?

Hey Jason, Have you seen (obviously aftermarket) 3 & 1/2 inch drives for these systems that accept a USB or an SD so I could quickly transfer files across from my "daily" PC? Most computers these days as you know, dont have floppy drives anymore... Loving the videos, Cheers! EDIT: Just spotted some SCSI to USB cables on eBay ~ $200
