I figure if I start now (March), I may have a similar facsimile by December. Fascinating attention to detail here…

Wow, this is brilliant! There are many steps and a lot of information to take in, but with the explanations you give it is still easy to follow.

A great effect, and well explained. It's a bit overwhelming though!

You're right, it is a bit overwhelming, but having followed many of Simon's tutorials, I can say that I've come a long way since starting with his channel. Honestly, I got through about 75% and then just watched as the complexity increased. A few months ago, I would not have been able to do nearly that much, if any of it.

Wow! That is snow sophisticated. Is there perhaps an “easy” fix to substitute text with a drop down picture and get a flexible solution? Thanks!
@SimonUbsdellАй бұрын
It's a procedural effect so in principle the answer to your question is, yes.

Simon, is there a way to get a downloadable file of the motion file so I can get a head start on this as a project.

Dear Simon thank you again for another great tutorial. I have a question if I may… I have changed the text (not snow but enduro) and everything is working. Than I changed the text from enduro to another word (“is not”) and noticed that some flakes seem to land in the sky (where one was the word enduro)… I moved the edge group in the alpha channel box again but the anomaly persists. Thank for any support if you can
@SimonUbsdell2 жыл бұрын
Three things to try: a) make sure that you have the "landing map" EDGE group set to Fixed Resolution, b) reapply the EDGE group to the Replicator source well(s) to refresh it, c) play from the beginning of the timeline to "wake up" the result. The nature of this effect is that it won't all necessarily update smoothly without a bit of nudging.

@@SimonUbsdell Thank you very much Simon. I checked all (fixed res, reapplied EDGE, played from the beginning). It seems to be better, but the problem is not solved completely. That said, it is not a problem for the use I make of your great tutorials, changing the wording into ENDURO IS NOT A CRIME and putting them to end my videos! And for which I will not end to thank you!

@@MeliusEsseQuamVideri If you duplicate the replicate several times (I did it like 10 times) it will end up spelling your word in snow, just off-centered. You can then adjust the position of the snow accordingly from the properties of the replicate. After that you can delete the extra duplicates. By the way I used emission alpha: 50% so there was more snow and it was easier to see it spell the word for this test.

Simon, is it possible to do this with a logo, say a University crest and accompanying text? I'm guessing not as you can't add a texture to a logo shape as you've done here.
@SimonUbsdell2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's perfectly possible and in fact it was something I meant to demonstrate. You don't need to texture for the basic concept of snow landing on the object to work, but if you did want to texture your artwork all you need to do is use it's alpha (or luma) information as an Image Mask for a texture of your choice and use the result as the source for the various Clones.

Added filters are not showing up in the layers list. Is there some place I need to turn on that feature? They do show in the inspector.
@SimonUbsdell2 жыл бұрын
At the bottom right hand side of the layers pane there are three buttons, the first is for Show/Hide Masks, the next is Show\Hide Behaviors and the third is Show/Hide filters. Make sure they are enabled.
@JRossHunter2 жыл бұрын
It turns out I had the first two on but not the third.
