Exactly, Motion to AE is like FCP to Premiere Pro, it's way more modern and faster to work with, but most people are just doing what the next man is doing, and that's why old things like AE is still an industry standard.

Awesome. I'm brand new to Apple Motion and wanted a good tutorial to show me the basics. I bought a 20 minute video from the App Store for $25 which was not an intro at all. Dean- I appreciate the kind words. Truth be told I started doing all these Motion lessons because I was frustrated with the content that was out there already for Apple Motion.. A lot of it was either: 1. Expensive. like 70 dollars for a video or two! 2. Not really examplesI would actually use. Some great technical stuff but id watch it and say - "cool but I'll never actually use that" 3. Hard to watch, hard to hear, hard to follow. I spend a lot of time planning which lessons to cover, in what order, and how best to showcase the topic as best I can. I will always have my lessons be free.Im currently working on another set of 7 Motion lessons and some FCPX currently so be sure to check them out. Thanks for watching. -Stanislaw R. Luberda AV-Ultra

Hi Stan Rob! I'm moving from After Effects to Motion right now. The slowness of After Effects and the eternally long rendering only annoyed me terribly. Since 2014 there has been no more multi-processor support (bas tar ds!), I can no longer see how only 1 core is used while my other 11 cores have to sleep. Thank you very much for your Motion tutorials, they help me a lot now (I also recommend Simon Ubsdell's Motion tutorials on KZbin). People should get paid by Apple for their Motion tutorials (the richest or at least one of the richest companies in the world !!!), that's nothing but peanuts for them. A beautiful program like MOTION absolutely deserves to be much better known and used by creative people in the world. I found out about Apple Motion by chance, almost too late, just before the end of the world, they don't advertise it at all ...

Hello Robert. I have been an Adobe user for quite a long time but recently acquired FCPX and Motion. I opened Motion and played with it about 5 minutes and closed it again. It is definitely different from AE in many respects and I was a bit reluctant to learn something altogether new. BUT, part of my reason for picking up FCPX and Motion are because I never know when I may stop subscribing to Adobe and then all my work would be locked up. Additionally, plug-ins like Red Giant Universe are subscription too. I like knowing that I am not going to be held hostage to get to my work. SO... all that to say, YOU are my first teacher in Apple Motion. And I would say that you do a good job of explaining the basics. I look forward to continuing in your video instruction and want you to know you have another willing student. :-)

After watching several of your Motion tutorials the past few days (in no specific order) and coming midways to this very first one, what you say at the beginning about being a great deal for $50 is almost an understatement... having watched the particles, replicators, behaviors, rigs, title/generators/transition publish to FCPX features, etc I must say I’m floored. I can’t thank you enough for setting up this tutorials. Many years later and they are still 100% relevant. At the beginning one of my main concerns, and I declare myself guilty, was “but where are m’ah-keyframe expressions” from the AE world, not anymore... if it is really not doable then so be it, maybe do that small part in AE or try another way. It is more than capable overall. Any reason why these suite seems to be not that popular? Maybe also I have been on a bubble for the most part and people around tend to dismiss it or joke about it, honestly a lot of the things that AE can do are at least easier and/or streamlined here... AE for me becomes quickly precomps hell. I do find crazy that we have to create our own ‘adjusment layer’ equivalent (an empty Titles publish basically) for example though... that’s something.
@AVUltra4 жыл бұрын
It’s a tough call why it’s not more popular. I think a lot of people didn’t take fcpx seriously and people from the ae world looked at motion and saw mostly out of date examples. There isn’t an Andrew Kramer of motion to show how cool it is. Plus 50 for a serious post tool makes it seem like a toy. It turns off professional who spend 10k for flame or nuke 10 years ago. I think really it was way too advanced for its time. There wasn’t a lot of people doing video as much as now and literally everyone has movie quality at their fingertips and now just realizing it. It’s kinda weird but also kinda amazing. It’s been a long while but I believe 2020 is the year a lot of people are discovering it and just like you are saying I could spend $50 dollars for my entire career in motion or spend $7000 for Adobeland software. I’d rather keep the $7000 myself.
@AVUltra4 жыл бұрын
Adjustment layers aren’t really a thing. It’s kinda an overlay hack in all systems. I see a LOT of people making ‘adjustment layers’ for people to download but I think it’s a terrible idea. Motion changes a little from version to version and those adjustment layers can break. You can achieve exactly the same effect by using any title included with fcpx and just remove all the text layers and do whatever and now it’s an ‘adjustment layer’ ;)
@AVUltra4 жыл бұрын
I also believe a lack of training materials and just showing people what you can do is a huge hindrance. One of the reasons why I moved most of my lessons to motion. It’s outstanding value that can’t be touched, renders really well outside of some motion blurs and particles that seriously need updating on apples end.
@alejmc4 жыл бұрын
@@AVUltra Indeed, very well said. Maybe 2020 is going to be an interesting year. Lots of advancements on many levels, a lot of the plugins I tended to use on AE have a counter part in FCPX/Motion for the most part (mO2 Element3D was a nice discovery for me), explorations on NLE tools on iPad Pro, etc. I also program a bit and have realized that there's actually very good 'getting started' documentation on how to do Generators and Effects via the 'FxPlug' SDK, something that with AE I couldn't ever really get started beyond the usual JavaScript-ing... the barrier for me there was real, seems a lot less scary now. Maybe yourself were ahead of your own time too, here I am watching over 3yo tutorials! Thanks for going through the comments along the assorted videos. I kinda spammed along them as I was watching without realizing it could take too much of your time in one shot. Greatly appreciated.

I would buy it because it looks just what I was looking for. Unfortunately you need Monterey installed. I have Big Sur and upgrading will screw up all my other spftware.

This dude just gave a big reason to ditch adobe altogether 😂 Regardless, great video, it really helped me understand what motion is used for!

I have come late, very late to FCP X & Motion 5. My 1st attempts at introducing myself to Motion were dreadful, and disasters. I then discovered your Motion introduction video, and it's like veil being lifted. "I've seen the light". . . . Thank you sir. Plus I have subscribed to your channel, I hope that's OK ? Kind Regards

Better late than never, and in that same thematic. I think you're right on time. Things are just now starting to get really great with FCP and Motion, and I'm excited (and grateful) you found some of my lessons helpful. Thanks for checking it out. -Stanislaw

At several intervals in your movie you have a lower third appearing WITH a sound effect and some seconds later dissappearing again with a sound effect. I thought lower thirds can only have gfx and not sound? Did you add the sound manually afterwards or can a lower third really contain sound too?
@AVUltra6 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Correct- I add them after. Currently- title templates cannot use sounds in them. (likely due to build in and build out possibilities I would wager) Generators I believe- CAN use audio, but are ill suited for making titles. I tend to add specific roles to my Titles and Lower thirds so i can quickly find them in my project and add the audio effects at the right time. Thanks for the question! -S

I just will begin to learn video editing and motion graphics do you recommend resolve, final cut or premier for someone that is beginning, I wont use it to find a job, just for youtube.

Different tools for different jobs. I’d still say fcpx is the easiest and fastest to learn. Clips on IOS is even faster if you’re doing KZbin.

Thank you Stanislaw, you are doing a really great job with these tutorials. I'm so glad I found you and saved myself a load of money not going with After Effects. Truly grateful. 🙌

Least I could do, I can see the amount of work you have put in on these and your thought process is perfect. I particularly enjoy the fact that you are not explaining all the controls first, but exploring those whilst doing a project and therefore it has more meaning to me. I followed your instructions and created a project at the same time, pausing the video and it worked beautifully. Thank you again, I appreciate you! 🙌
