One of my cousins went trough a similar situation. The diference is that she chose to trust her friend over her husband. Even after he prooved his inocence she still claimed he had to be responsible for leding her on, refused to cut contact with her and several times acted as if he was the untrustworthy one. Of course she was Shocked Pikachu Faced when he filled for divorce and nobody in our familly blamed him for it.

That would have probably hurt her more than anything considering it seems to have been something she thought was noteworthy enough to point out several times. HR won't talk to her family, their only authority is over what happens at the workplace. If Becky harrasses OP at the office, then they can act. Getting arrested can also impact her job security, but it's whether or not a court finds her guilty that matters.

No, you can be fired for getting arrested. But I agree that HR isn't going to call someone's parents, unless maybe there was some kind of an emergency that required next of kin to be contacted. But they could definitely fire her for harassing another employee, whether it happens at work or not. Unless you have an actual contract, employment is usually able to be terminated by either party for any reason, including no reason at all.

The "paying compensation" thing with these are a little inaccurate. Destroying property or stealing property are not just things to sue for. They are crimes first and foremost. Instead of solely "paying compensation" such acts are nearly always prosecuted first with a sentence of incarceration in jail and/or prison and often no need to sue. Restitution is often part of the sentence.
