Sounds like there was a failure on dad’s part in how Tanya was educated. When our daughter was five, she was more responsible than Tanya. (IE: She was taught to think about how she spent her birthday money) & that actions have consequences. In fact, actions have consequences was taught to her before she was three! Of COURSE!, we still made sure she got up & ready on time until she hit high school but she was pretty good at “fending” for herself: getting to school & work on time, responsible spending, fixing her own meals (when she needed to) & so forth. Sounds like Tanya wasn’t taught anything.

Tanya’s dad is the problem here. Instead of “sitting on the sidelines” he should have been correcting her bad behavior and attitude. Now he’s okay to abandon the monster he created. He’s sick.
