Sorry, but with the cost of living in the USA, if one makes $30,000 a year they need to be frugal in what they buy. There is a running we have in our family. My husband says he wears the pants in the family but I just tell him which ones to wear (he is terrible at putting outfits together). Lol. When my eldest daughter was in school, she had a friend who would brag about having spent $100 on a pair of name-brand jeans. My daughter would then tell her that was crazy, and she went to a thrift store and bought four pairs of the same name jeans, which were in perfect condition, for $50.

Lucy sounds like she's really good at making things fun without spending money. That's the key to living that frugally without living meanly -- being creative enough and skilled enough to create the same levels of enjoyment without spending that you would have with it. If you can't do that, then it's better to be a *little* less careful, and give yourselves a limited fun budget. But it's best of both worlds to be able to make your own fun for free. All that said, Tim was right to break things off. They're clearly not compatible. Tim doesn't have that ability to make fun for free, and he also doesn't have the joy that Lucy clearly takes in the game of bargain-hunting. She belongs with someone who isn't going to drag her down, and he would never be happy with somebody who made him do it constantly; because if you don't have the temperament to be able to enjoy the sport of it, you'll never be able to sustain it on that strict a regimen over the long term. Ideally, they would have broken up and he'd find someone who lives sensibly... neither extravagantly nor as frugally as Lucy. She'd find someone who takes as much pleasure as she does in the process, who gets a kick out of setting the table like a restaurant at home and who loves to bring home the excited story of the latest bargain he found. They'll be happy together in a way that she and Tim never could be.
@KCohere336 ай бұрын
I love that she set the table like a restaurant. That proved to me that she’s not some skinflint who doesn’t enjoy life. She just likes to make her money go farther.
@norarivkis25136 ай бұрын
@@KCohere33 She does like to make her money go farther... but that's the thing; she *likes* to. It's a game to her. Listen to how enthusiastic she sounded about every bargain she scored or new thing she learned how to do for herself (the voice actress did a great job with that, BTW). It's not just *having* more money that makes her happy, so she saves. The *process* of finding ways to save money make her happy. I know people like that, for whom haggling and couponing are sports, and they track their successes, always trying to better their best score. They're wonderful people, but they need to be partnered with someone else who enjoys the same hobby.

He needs outside stimulation like a lot of other people, so It would never work as she's not like that. She needs to find someone that enjoys never eating takeout and sitting at home checking the sales and cutting out coupons. That's a partner that could make her happy and not be stressed and nag her man for spend money on anything that's not a need So lighten just a little bit or find a man with her interests , but Tim isn't for her and he would never have made her truly happy
