The fact he he finally started to realize what was going on around him after the arrest is probably the quickest I've seen someone wake up to the situation they're in. I hope the woman the ex ran away with gets punished too. I might have misheard something but I think they mentioned ex & affair partner ran off with money from the company. If that's true maybe something happens that leads to her getting dragged back home to get charged after abandoning the ex.

In US statute of limitations is 5 years. But they could probably still sue him.

These stories where these idiots run off without doing any paperwork--not the divorce papers, but actual paperwork transferring house & car titles, so on and so forth, over to the partner they're abandoning--I'm wondering if there's a way to take these screenshotted texts to Divorce Court and have the judge assign orders for the paperwork to be legally transferred over as per the idiot's wishes. My mother couldn't even transfer over the gas heating bill into her name when my father died, and she had sent them copies of the death certificates! She had to literally cancel the service--sending ANOTHER copy of the death certificate--then start up brand new, all so we could have heat come winter. (Thank god it was summer at the time!) Without the paperwork legally filed, you can't just "give" someone a house, because they can't DO anything without YOUR signature on the documents. Can't refinance the mortgage, can't sell the place, can't get a loan for renovations...!

Writing tip: try to avoid repetitive word/phrase usage. 'The House' shows up so many times in this story that you'd get drunk very fast drinking every time you hear it. Vary words used to prevent words clutter and repetition. House, home, abode, etc. This is an issue in most of these stories, and it's very distracting. This helps improve the flow of the story and reduce distracting issues
