She should've listened to her mom. Her mom obviously saw what she couldn't see. She's a better judge of character than grace is.. why would grace even date, let alone marry a man that contributed absolutely nothing to the relationship in the first place?. Did she think it was normal for the woman to pay /do everything?.. Simon had some nerve to move not only his mom but his sister into someone else's house... I find that disrespectful as hell.. I don't care that's his mom & sister.. that is still her house.. she doesn't have to let them into her house...if Simon wanted to just move two leeches in without permission, perhaps he should save his own money and buy his house.
@norarivkis25132 ай бұрын
There are relationships which work out when one person is contributing all the financial resources, but in that case the other has to be contributing something else. When she said "as long as he takes good care of me, that's all I need," at the beginning, I thought, "okay, but *does* he take good care of you? Has he been doing all the cooking and housework? How does he handle emotional labor? What concrete actions has he shown -- consistently, not just once in a while!! -- that constitute 'taking good care of you,' such that it is worth being the sole financial support of another adult human being? If we saw Grace's partner actively looking for ways to compensate her for her financial support of him, instead of trying to take greater and greater advantage of it, she would be okay. But we didn't see that, and even though he may have talked a good game, I don't think she saw it at the beginning either. That was a major red flag and she missed it.

Just wonder how quickly the sister is going to want to move in. Only halfway through and I am getting conspiracy vibes with this family. Mom is a master manipulator. And she takes a lot on herself to just make all the decisions and just steamroll over Grace.

I thought it was Grace who insisted the MIL stayed with them, even mentioning potential babysitting duties in future... by the end, it sounded like she did not give permission for the mother to stay when she did. I can understand Simon inviting his mom without asking Grace. It was pretty much an ER situation. However Simon inviting his sister AS SOON AS SHE ASKED?! The fact that Sarah even asked? THAT was Shameless! Honestly Simons mom was fine until she ALSO decided that Sarah should move in too. This is why im so happy my husband mom and I pulled our money and bought a property that has the Main house AND a MIL house. Lol. My mom lives in the small 3 bedroom house and can invite WHOEVER she wants to stay there. The main house however is OFF limits. Plus once my husband and I can start paying the property off she is going to sign over her portion of the property. While yes im mainly a SAHM i do so small freelance that brings in quite a bit of money. My husband tho is still the main bread winner. My mom however is adamant that she pays her part since she is still working. The property is in all our names so all of our opinions are listened to as well as our kids when it comes to any major changes or decisions we make regarding the property. Especially if its something that will affect the kids living situation as well. And No my husband doesnt believe that he can invite whoever he wants to live here just because my mom already lives here. He understands that we would not have gotten such a great place on both our incomes alone at the time. Though we already agree that if his mom EVER needs a place to stay she would be allowed to stay in my moms house. But shes the only one. Only because her husband is a POW. (Piece of work).

I don't get why she quit her job as a nurse unless she never wanted to be a nurse in the first place. However, to be a business owner, you need an education and with a nursing degree that isn't anything that's useful except for in nursing. Grace would realistically be financially struggling and wouldn't make ends meet. She would not be a successful business woman at all, not with her lack of experience.

But then when the sister came in everything went downhill and then he turns around and want to give up the bedroom dude come on and then why does it make it like he have no money like his wife was the only one that had all the money. Simon and Grace are just back from the honeymoon (like just arrived from the airport) and Simon's mother is saying she has no money and no income due to her late husband. Violins playing while his mother sings "alas, poor me!" And Simon invites his mother to live with them immediately. Grace's mother is very upset when she hears from Grace what is going on. I did not like Grace's response to her mother warnings. Grace is too naive and gullible.
